BREAKING: Shaquille O’Neal had seven words for Steph Curry after leaving the Warriors game early.
Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors faced the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
Much of the attention before the series focused on an injury affecting Curry’s hand. His thumb was swollen, a concern that had been highlighted by fans and the media.
Although many have been monitoring the injury, Curry added insult to injury on Tuesday.
In the first game against the Timberwolves, Curry was injured. After limping off the court and returning to the locker room, Curry was ruled out of the game with a hamstring injury.
At halftime, the NBA on TNT team featuring Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and company discussed Curry’s health.
Speaking about the injury, O’Neal said, “It’s possible he’s starting to fall apart.”
While O’Neal admitted that Curry has been phenomenal for the Warriors, he hinted that the Golden State star may be coming too late in his career to maintain his playing style in the same way.
“He might be starting to decline,” O’Neal said, according to ClutchPoints. “He moves around a lot for a 37- or 36-year-old. This could be crucial. If I were Golden State, I definitely want to get him this game. Rest him in Game 2. Rest him a couple more days. Maybe they put him in Game 3.”
Curry capped his night against the Minnesota Timberwolves with 13 points, one rebound and one assist.
The official injury report revealed that Curry suffered a left hamstring strain, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
As Shaquille O’Neal explained, Curry is entering the second half of his NBA career.
The Golden State Warriors are currently playing their 16th season in the league, having led the organization to four NBA titles.
During the 2024-25 season, Curry has averaged 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.
