Drew Gilbert could be the best thing to happen to Major League Baseball, having brought his eccentric personality to the San Francisco Giants, who were only recently involved in a bench-clearing brawl.

Gilbert, originally drafted by the Houston Astros in 2022, is keen on helping his team snatch a National League Wild Card spot and is doing everything he can to motivate those around him, even if it means getting choked out.

The former Tennessee baseball star’s intense personality was on full display during Monday’s win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. And, while it could be new to Giants fans, the Vols and their supporters know it all too well.

MLB’s Twitter/X account couldn’t find many words to describe the player’s hype tape on Monday night.

Drew Gilbert Might Just Become The Face Of The Giants With An Attitude Like That

Gilbert was traded to the New York Mets in early August but made his majors debut with San Francisco and has played in 24 games so far. He has registered 62 at-bats and is hitting .42 with three home runs and 12 RBIs.

He got one of those homers against former teammate Chase Dollander just over a week ago.

The 24-year-old is thought to be one of the most exciting players in the game, not least due to his character. The crazy thing is, he’s only just getting started and could be a huge part of what the Giants are about in years to come.

If nothing else, he’ll definitely bring them some attention they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

San Francisco is currently three games behind Gilbert’s former team for the final Wild Card spot in the National League standings, with series against the Phillies, Rangers, Padres, Nationals, Cubs, and the Marlins left to play.
