Welcome to another episode of the Adrien  Ross Show, where sports and culture  connect. Head coach of the Chicago Sky,  Tyler Marsh, was ejected from his team’s  game today against the Connecticut Sun.  Oh my goodness. The Connecticut Sun.  What is it with the Connecticut Sun?  Seems like that team is always in the  middle of something.  Well, in this game, he blew an absolute  gasket. Tyler Marsh did. And was given  the boot right out of the game. And I’m  gonna say this. I hope that commissioner  of the WNBA Kathy Inglebert is paying  attention. And no, I don’t mean paying  attention to players personal podcast so  she can figure out how she can find them  more for telling the truth about the  officiating. I’m not talking about  minding players business in that way.  I’m talking about paying attention to  what happened with Tyler Marsh. I’m  going to show you what happened.

I’m  going to go on over to X. The link will  be in the description of this video.  Let’s see what happened and then we got  to talk about it. At this point in the  game, as you see, we’re in the second  quarter. Connecticut 33, Chicago 20.  College coach Wesmore, he’s not  impressed yet. I just looked over at him  and he hasn’t even cracked a smile. So,  isn’t that kind of Westmore? That is  true.  Uhoh. Uhoh. Uhoh. Tyler Marsh just got  ejected from this game.

Angel Reese Helped Restrain Sky Coach, Who BLEW UP at Referee & Got EJECTED from Game vs. Sun

We talked about the physicality of this  series leading into today.  Shimmy, you’ve already talked about the  physical nature that we’ve already seen  here today. Well, there has been a lot  of contact from the very beginning. Like  I don’t  Okay, I’m going to stop right here. If I  hear the word physicality one more time,  here’s the thing. I absolutely am in no  way no way condoning Tyler Marsh coming  after the official the way he did. Let  me look at Let’s look at that again.  Watch him over here. Watch how he takes  off with the official  and look at that hand.  And of course, he gets tossed out of the  game. So, making it clear, I’m in no way  condoning going after official running  up on him in that way. However, we’ve  got to talk about why this happened. So,  first we’re going to look back at what  did happen

Tyler Marsh is absolutely correct here  to be upset.  How are you an official getting paid,  albeit not much, but getting paid to  officiate a game and you do not blow  your whistle when this happens. So,  we’ll take it in slow motion here. Drive  to the basket, a pass, and look at that.  Grabbed around the body. Just grabbed  around the body and nobody blows a  whistle. This is inexcusable.  Look at this.  Nobody blows a whistle.  That And who is that? Aaliyah Edwards.  This is utterly ridiculous. Utterly  ridiculous.  Well, there has been a lot of contact  from the very beginning. Like,  what is that? That’s like some serious  That’s like some serious wrestling going  on. Even in boxing, when you grab around  somebody like that, dude, the referees  will come and pull you apart. And he  just lost it. He just lost it. I mean,  and he came out like,  “Wow.”  You don’t know what he’s gonna do. The  way he went running over there. What is  this league  What is this league doing? What is this  league doing? How do you have officials  and this goes on and all you do is find  the people who complain?

There is no way  you should pay anybody who doesn’t blow  a whistle in a situation like that. And  we wonder why there are so many injuries  in this league because you don’t you’re  too busy boasting about physicality and  the officials are half asleep obviously  and this is the utmost disrespect and I  think that Tyler Marsh I’m going to show  you in a moment what he said about it  but I think in in addition to just being  like are you kidding me here?  It’s like there’s no respect for my  team. I know we’re not making the  playoffs. were already eliminated from  the playoffs. So is Connecticut. That  doesn’t mean you don’t do your job. And  look, y’all know I’m no huge fan of the  Chicago Sky.

In fact, I’m a 0% fan of  the Chicago Sky, but I am a person who  says do your job. I am a person who  believes that these players should have  quality officiating and we know all  season long. That has not happened. and  he just lost it, which is kind of scary,  but and I’m not condoning the manner in  which he did, but this is what’s  happening. He’s fed up with the  nonsense. He’s he feels disrespected.  And this is it. His team is not in the  playoffs. And this what you saw right  there is when frustration meets nothing  to lose. He’s got nothing to lose. He’s  not He’s not vying for a playoff  position right now. You got a lot of  teams right now. It is so close. It is  so tight and you’re like, I don’t want  to misstep because I don’t want to cost  the team. I don’t want to cost them the  tech. I don’t want to cost them by  getting ejected. I don’t want to. And  you’re trying to tow the line there. But  at the same time, you’re like, I gotta  fight for my players, but where’s that  where’s that balance, right? But right  now, a person with nothing to lose is a  dangerous person as exploding explosion.  And you know what? I am so fed up with  all of this. And I’ve got nothing on the  line. I’m coming after you.  But the thing about it is, what are the  officials thinking? What is the deal?

What is going on? Why? How can it be  that bad? And Kathy Ingleberg is doing  nothing about it. It’s like she’s in  complete denial. Although during  All-Star weekend, she acted like she  wasn’t in denial. But before that, what  we heard her say was, “Oh, every team  that’s losing thinks the officiating is  bad.” No, everybody. Everybody, excuse  that little  everybody. Everybody thinks that it’s  bad, win or lose. And the reason they  think it’s bad is because it’s bad.  There’s no How do you not call a foul  right there?  He just lost it. Lost it. Lost it. Once  again, when frustration meets I ain’t  got nothing to lose,  you get what we saw right there, which  wasn’t pretty.  And it was Connecticut. Interesting.  So, now let’s go over to the postgame  press conference  where Tyler Marsh was asked about it.  I know it’s hard to believe based on  what we just saw him do on the court,  but he really is a soft spoken kind of  guy, so you kind of lean in a little bit  to hear what he’s saying.  You got ejected today. What was really  the breaking point for you and how was  it when you weren’t able to coach your  team back?  Um,  it was hard being in the back and not  not being out there for the team.  Part of me felt like I was letting down  the other other half of me was like  I had to I had to. It’s it’s been  egregious all year.  It’s been egregious all year. Remember I  did a video about that? Stephanie White  used that pretty early in the season as  well. Egregious.

Breaking point. I mean, you guys saw it.  It was clear as day. And  um I think that when stuff like that  goes uncalled,  things happen like that happened last  time you played Connecticut. And I don’t  know how you send one of the same refs  from that game  um to reference tonight  and allow something like that to to  occur. Not the same as she was part of  it, but it’s still the first time that  we played Connecticut this season.  There’s another ref that was here today  that was involved in another altercation  there. So, um  in other words, you keep sending us the  same refs when we play Connecticut and  we end up with the same nonsense. How do  you do that? Now, here’s the thing. Not  only did his team not get the benefit of  that call, and not only did he get  ejected, but compound that with the fact  that there’s going to be an additional  fine right here because what is he  doing? He is talking about the league  and how the league is uh handling  officiating and how poor the officiating  is. So, again, no accountability, just  find the people.

That’s like being mad  at the mailman bringing a belt.  I feel like we’ve been getting the short  end of the stick all year. Um, every  time that I’ve gotten attack this year  has been in support of our players. And  I think that um if not the most  respectful coach to the to the to the  officiating crew, I don’t know who is in  the league. And um with our record and  the amount of losses that we have, never  do I come up here  for our situation. Um, I take the onus  always.  Um, but it feels like I’m the only one  that does that.

There’s no  accountability on the other side of it.  And that’s what today would have been  another game that just went by or you  get calls mistakes  and nobody has to answer for it. But our  players continually have to answer when  they don’t play well. our coaches around  the league have to continuously answer  uh when they make decisions that don’t  you know they don’t go their way and  accountability should be had on all  fronts and it’s not  that was a great  I’ll stop right there but I will have  the link in the description of this  video like he said no accountability  we’re held accountable as players and  coaches officials no accountability and  it gets frustrating and when you  infuriating even and when you don’t have  anything on the line other than okay I  got to pay a fine  at some point well the breaking point is  what he said  I want to reiterate not in favor of  running out after the official and doing  like this with your arm or anything like  that but these officials  they they  I’m, you know, I started doing the  segment on the show, you be the judge.

I don’t even need to do a segment on  that. Everybody can see that that was a  foul. That was a total wrapound and you  just decide, I’m not going to blow the  whistle cuz I don’t know, I got a dinner  appointment. I need to get out of here.  I don’t know. Anyway,  this is what happens. This league is  going to have to figure out  what kind of identity it wants to have.  Do you want to be taken seriously WNBA?  Because if so, you’re going to have to  invest in quality officiating or not  only will people not take you seriously,  but you’re going to continue to have a  situation where there are more injuries  than the mind could have ever imagined.  Wow. Tyler Marsh,  I’ll catch you next time, God willing.  God bless you abundantly.  You got it.
