Former BIG3 courtside correspondent Rachel DeMita is hyped about WNBA and Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark, just like a lot of fans.

However, the hype actually got her fired. DeMita confirmed in a post on social media that she was fired for tweeting about Clark while working courtside for the BIG3 basketball league during a live broadcast on Saturday, June 14.

According to Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, the tweets were the “final straw” for DeMita with BIG3.

DeMita read a letter that was sent to her by the 3-on-3 league, and it stated the league was “dismayed and disappointed” she was tweeting about another league while the BIG3 was playing.

The pro-Clark tweets were fired off while Clark and the Fever were playing the New York Liberty, a game that started at 3 p.m. ET and was Clark’s first back from injury.

Meanwhile, the BIG3 had four games scheduled that day, starting at the same time.

“For those who questioned the hype,” one of DeMita’s tweets about Clark that day read.

Clark and the BIG3 are already quite familiar with one another. The 3-on-3 league actually offered Clark a two-year, $10 million deal to come aboard out of college, but the offer was declined.

In her video, DeMita took her firing all in stride, saying she wouldn’t make excuses and would “take it on the chin.”

If we learned anything from the Sophie Cunningham situation, Clark’s fans will likely rally around DeMita in the wake of her ousting.
