The rockstar version of Arch Manning that Texas expected finally showed up in tonight’s home game against Sam Houston State. At halftime, he had 227 passing yards, one passing touchdown and two rushing scores as Texas took a 31-0 lead into the locker room.

After a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, Manning stared down Sam Houston State linebacker Antavious Fish and was lucky to avoid an unsportsmanlike penalty. An official actually had to step in and diffuse the situation by warning Manning to stop:

Whatever it takes to get Arch going, we suppose.

The 21-year-old Arch Manning was the preseason favorite to win the 2025 Heisman Trophy, but his odds dropped significantly after an ugly Week 1 road loss to the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes.

Manning helped the Longhorns to consecutive blowout victories over San Jose State and UTEP, although his stats weren’t exactly off the charts in last week’s game (114 yards, one touchdown and an interception).

The competition has been easier these last three weeks, but Manning is finally playing up to expectations after a forgettable season debut against Ohio State. He has delivered an all-world performance against Sam Houston State tonight, so we’ll see if that carries over down the stretch with tougher opponents looming.
