Tampa Bay has come out firing to begin the year.

Baker Mayfield is picking up right where he left off last season, when he threw for 41 touchdowns and 4,500 yards.

Through two weeks, he has been slinging it all over the yard, quickly climbing the Buccaneers’ record books in the process.

With another multi-touchdown game on Monday Night Football to will his team to a 20-19 victory against the Houston Texans, Mayfield now ranks third in franchise history for games with at least two passing touchdowns.

Monday night marked his 23rd such game, moving him past Josh Freeman into sole possession of third place.

With the Bucs trailing 19-14 and two minutes left on the clock, Mayfield led his team on an 11-play, 80-yard touchdown drive to win the game, including a crucial fourth-and-ten conversion he picked up with his legs.

He finished the game completing 25 of 38 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 33 rushing yards.

However, the former first overall pick isn’t the only one that has made franchise history. Rookie wideout Emeka Egbuka has lived up to the hype early.

His third touchdown of the year on Monday night gave him the most receiving scores through two career games in Buccaneers history, after finding pay dirt twice in his first NFL game last week.

The first-round rookie finished with four catches for just 29 yards and a touchdown — but it was a big one.

Through two weeks, Egbuka is tied for the NFL lead with three receiving touchdowns, alongside Amon-Ra St. Brown and Rome Odunze.

Head coach Todd Bowles and the Bucs are now 2-0 to start the year, marking the fifth straight season Tampa Bay has gotten off to such a start.

It’s the longest active streak in the NFL and a franchise record.

The Bucs are only the sixth team since the merger to start 2-0 in five straight seasons.

The other teams to accomplish the feat? The Chicago Bears hold the record with eight straight 2-0 starts from 1984 to 1991.

The Miami Dolphins had six straight 2-0 starts from 1994 to 1999, as did the Denver Broncos from 2013 to 2018. The Houston Texans are next with five, from 2010 to 2014.

The Bucs now join the Dallas Cowboys, who also had five straight 2-0 starts from 1975 to 1979.

After beginning the season with back-to-back road games, they return home to Raymond James Stadium the next two weeks to welcome the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles.
