The Cincinnati Bengals had to make a move after Joe Burrow’s injury, and they wasted no time this week making a key signing.

Jaguars @ Bengals – NFL Game Preview for September 14, 2025

On Monday, the Bengals confirmed that Burrow will miss at least the next three months after surgery to repair torn ligaments in his toe, so the team reportedly didn’t wait long to make plans for a future without the quarterback.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the Bengals are signing QB Mike White to the practice squad.

White joined the Bills as a practice squad player prior to the start of the 2024 regular season. Last month, He was released as he did not make the cut to 53 players in Buffalo.

He was 3-of-11 for 28 yards in a season-ending loss to the Patriots and made seven starts for the Jets in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

He is certainly not the answer to losing Joe Burrow, but he is a body at the position they may need.

The course of the Cincinnati Bengals’ season took a turn for the worse on Sunday.

Cincinnati will be without its franchise QB for months after a turf toe injury suffered against the Jaguars on Sunday.

ESPN reported that Burrow will need surgery on the toe he injured in the Bengals’ Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, ruling him out for at least the next three months. The injury occurred when Burrow was sacked by Jaguars defensive tackle Arik Armstead.

Burrow, who led the league last season with 4,918 passing yards and 43 TD passes, has a notable laundry list of injuries in his six-year career, including a knee injury in his rookie season and a wrist injury in 2023. Both injuries cost him six and seven games of those seasons.

Joe Burrow’s injury comes at a terrible time for the team, which is set to play at Minnesota next week. Next week, they will begin a stretch of five straight opponents that made the playoffs last year.
