Ellen and Portia, who have been married for 16 years, decided to make a drastic move to England from California towards the end of 2024.

Although the comedian has recently decided to start giving her social media followers a little insight into their new seemingly picturesque countryside English life in the Cotswolds through silly farming videos, an inside source recently told In Touch Weekly that it wasn’t the smoothest transition.

“They knew going into this that it wasn’t going to be totally smooth sailing; it was always going to be a challenge,” said a source close to the couple.

“Taking on a big renovation in a foreign country is not easy. But they’re both very skilled at renovation. It’s one of their passions.”

However, just weeks after they fled the United States, the couple’s new home in England was reportedly damaged due to flooding, which the source said was another hurdle for them to get over. “[They’ve] navigated plenty of hiccups,” added the insider.

Source Claims Things Have Been ‘Difficult’ For Ellen And Portia

In addition to having to deal with some natural disasters and renovations, the source close to the couple also noted that adjusting to life outside of America has been tricky. Ellen and Portia lived together in California for over a decade, and they were famous for sharing pictures from their luxurious home with their dogs.

However, everything changed in 2022 when the 67-year-old was accused of creating a toxic work environment behind the scenes of her infamous daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Later, she addressed her show’s cancellation in a comedy special, citing that she “got kicked out of show business.”

Then, when she and Portia put their Montecito mansion up for sale, rumors began circulating that they sold it due to Trump being elected president for a second term in 2024. No matter the reason, the new source’s report claimed that there are things about America Ellen and the Arrested Development actress miss.

“It’s been difficult at times because they do miss the comfort of things back in America, but more than anything, they’re pleased to be embracing this new start,” added the insider.

“They’re getting to know the people around them and loving the property and the area.”
