The 2025 Ryder Cup will run from Friday to Sunday at the Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York. Keegan Bradley will captain Team USA, and Luke Donald will captain Team Europe.

The Americans had a special guest to cheer them on during Tuesday’s practice round ahead of the real show: None other than “Coach O”, who has kept a relatively low profile since he departed from LSU at the end of the 2021 season.

A fan watching the practice round shared a video of Ed Orgeron starting a “USA! USA! USA!” chant with the folks sitting in his section:

Though he hasn’t been in the headlines a whole lot since his exit from LSU, Coach O was dealt a significant financial blow earlier this summer. In June, the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled that Ed Orgeron was to pay $8 million to his ex-wife, Kelly.

Orgeron reportedly received about $17 million in a buyout from the Tigers.

Orgeron coached the LSU Tigers to a perfect 15-0 season and a national championship in 2019, with future NFL superstars Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase leading the way.

But LSU went a combined 11-11 over Orgeron’s final two seasons; the 2020 season was shortened because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Orgeron’s success in turning LSU back into a winning program would make him an attractive HC candidate by top football programs if he decided to return.

During an appearance on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast last month, Coach O said he “thinks it’s time” and has “the itch” to return to coaching. So make of that as you will.

In the meantime, Orgeron has some more “USA!” chants to lead for the Ryder Cup.
