When Caitlin Clark exploded for 20 points in Indiana’s 88–71 triumph over the Connecticut Sun on June 17, it wasn’t only her scoring touch that grabbed headlines. It was her composure amid one of the season’s most talked‑about scuffles as she absorbed a hard poke to the eye from Sun guard Jacy Sheldon.
The ensuing melee drew flagrant fouls and technicals spread among four players before the dust settled. Yet, Clark shrugged off the contact like a true competitor, knocking down clutch jumpers and dishing pinpoint assists to seal the win.
Now she brought that same steely resolve to Chase Center, where the Fever faced the Golden State Valkyries on June 19.
Caitlin Clark Channels Stephen Curry in Pre-Game Warm‑Up At Valkyries’ Home
In a clip first shared by CClarkReport on X, Clark could be seen stepping into the corner before unleashing a deep three-pointer. As the ball kissed the net, she let out a crisp “Curry!” in tribute to the four‑time NBA champion.
The moment felt less like showboating and more like passing the torch. Clark’s range and rhythm have drawn comparisons to Curry since her record‑breaking collegiate career. Even basketball legend Dick Vitale compared her game with Curry after she made seven three-pointers and scored 32 points against the New York Liberty on June 13.
Tonight, on the Valkyries’ turf, Clark’s nod to Curry wasn’t mere fanfare. It underscored the transformational impact both players have had on their leagues. As for the fans, social media erupted over Clark’s homage. One Twitter user quipped, “GOAT referencing GOAT.”
Another tweeted, “She should be working on her MMA fighting instead. Esp when on one is there to defend her,” referencing Clark’s controversial clash with Jacy Sheldon that threw the former off-balance.
One other fan wrote, “Too bad Curry won’t be at the game. I read posts that he is on vacay.”
The Indiana sensation has picked up right where she left off, even after a brief stint on the sidelines with a left quad strain this season. In six appearances this season, Clark is averaging 21.3 points, 8.7 assists, and 5.5 boards per game while shooting 44.7% from the field.
Clark’s Fever Fall 88–77 to Valkyries
Once the ball was live, it was the Indiana Fever that struck first. The Fever clawed through the Golden State Valkyries’ defense with pinpoint passing and aggressive cuts, leaving them at 21-12 in the first quarter. The Valkyries fought back, and yet by halftime, Indiana held onto the lead, 44-38.
Even in the third quarter, the Golden State maintained a 15-17 lead. Kayla Thornton added 16 points and six rebounds. Meanwhile, Tiffany Hayes chipped in 14 points, and Chloe Bibby added 12 points off the bench.
Clark finished with 11 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. Aliyah Boston notched another double-double and finished with a team-high 17 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks.
In the final period, the home team’s depth told the tale. The Indiana Fever fell 88-77 to the Golden State Valkyries. Indiana will now face the Las Vegas Aces on June 22, while the Valkyries will host the Connecticut Sun on June 22.
