CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans are in the midst of a terrible 2025 campaign, and it appears things could get so much worse.

Albert Breer: Will EAGLES or BUCS Be 4-0?

Just a few days ago, the franchise shocked everybody when they suddenly cut ties with C.J. Gardner-Johnson, one of the league’s best and most competitive safeties. He was cut after only three games due to “friction behind the scenes.”

Reports indicated that he complained about his role with the team, wanted to blitz more, and took issue with another player’s contract on the team.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans made it clear that it was his decision to cut him.

That news came from a bizarre interview with Texans quarterback CJ Stroud after the team fell to 0-3. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, an NFL insider has a hit piece coming out on the team.

Dianna Russini said that while CJ Stroud is “really good,” the team is still trying to work some things out on offense

She also stated, “There are some things going on behind the scenes that I think we are going to find out about soon.”

Russini did not reveal what those things could possibly be.

What Is Wrong With CJ Stroud?

What CJ Stroud did for the franchise quarterback was unparalleled in his rookie campaign.

Stroud was named the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft took the league by storm as he tossed for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, five interceptions, and a passer rating of 100.8. Stroud finished his 2023 rookie campaign with 4,557 total passing yards, including the postseason.

He wasn’t as dynamic in year 2 as he racked up 3,727 yards during his 2024 sophomore season. However, he and the Texans won the AFC South for the second straight season.

Now, Houston has a problem, and it might be their quarterback.

The Houston Texans are a surprising 0-3 to begin the year, and much of the blame has fallen on Stroud’s underwhelming play.

Through three games, Stroud has thrown for 599 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. The team has managed only 9, 19, and 10 points in its three losses.

Something is wrong, and the hinges continue falling off each week. Another loss might cause huge changes in Houston.
