A pr*dator teacher has been locked up after s*xually targeting a mentally ill student

SICKENING s*xual abuse has landed a special needs teacher in prison after she s*xually coerced a vulnerable teenage student.
Sandy Carazas-Pines, 36, will spend 25 years behind bars after she spent three months persuading a vulnerable child into a s*xual relationship with her.

The former New York City public school teacher led her 16-year-old student from the city-funded Yonkers school to believe they were in a romantic relationship over the period between November 2022 to February 2023.
The married mother-of-three called, texted and video-chatted with the boy to arrange her sick s*xual encounters with him.
She even forced him to live-stream “s*xually explicit conduct” while on video calls with her, prosecutors told a court.
In messages between the pair discussing a potential break up, Carazas-Pines allegedly said “I know for me it isn’t going to be easy, I will miss your kisses, hugs and everything … I sound like a pervert”.
The dossier of texts contained further stomach churning communication, where she said: “I usually go for much older men… you’re the crazy exception” and “You made yourself seem like you were a complete prude, but you have your fair share of experience and experimenting”.
The twisted teacher, originally from Bethel, Connecticut, described their live-streamed s*xual encounters as “gifts”, a court heard.
She even instructed the teen to obtain day passes from his school to leave campus and meet her nearby.
Carazas-Pines would then park in locations around the Bronx, Yonkers and Staten Island to have s*x.
The disturbed teacher s*xted the boy on numerous occasions, including sending suggestive pictures.
She told him repeatedly to delete the revolting content in an attempt to conceal the sordid affair.

Jay Clayton, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said “s*xual exploitation by teachers offends every New Yorker”.
“Sandy Carazas-Pines betrayed her role and … coerced a 16-year-old into a s*xual relationship,” he said.
“Actions of this type by anyone, particularly a teacher or other persons of trust will not be tolerated.”
Carazas-Pines was sacked from the Biondi School – run by the nonprofit Rising Ground – in March 2023.
She previously spent time locked up after violating her bail conditions following her initial arrest.
She was forbidden to have unsupervised contact with any child under 18 years old, but broke the condition when she emailed a student a day after he turned 18, wishing him a happy birthday.

Her own lawyer characterised her behaviour as “troubling”.
Carazas-Pines will spend 25 years in jail, and a further five years on supervised release.
The boy’s mother revealed the child had a schizophrenia diagnosis and a mood disorder.
“It’s the rape of a child with a mental illness,” she said.
“As a society, we have to prioritise the safety of children who are mentally ill and … who are s*xually assaulted.”
The horrifying abuse comes after a substitute teacher in Utah pleaded guilty to raping a young student in September.

Alley Bardfield, 34, a former substitute teacher, lured the 11-year-old student to her home before s*xually abusing him.
Body cam footage from an arresting officer show the married 34-year-old initially acting shocked at the claims, then later attempting to victim blame her child victim.
In an appalling attempt to shirk responsibility, Bardfield told the cop the young boy had made advances on her.
“He kept asking and asking and asking and wouldn’t leave me alone,” she replied.
An Illinois court heard Bardfield referred to his visits as “play dates”, one of which disturbingly turned into a s*xual encounter.
After his parents discovered the sickening abuse, they worked with police to trap the teacher.
In messages sent from the victim, he said he was leaving town but hoped he would see her when he returned.
“I love and miss you Alley,” he wrote.
“When I come back I’ll if I can come over.”
