A NEW YORK GIANTS star suffered a sideline meltdown after giving away four penalties in a row.

The Giants lost 40-37 to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

And James Hudson III did not help their cause.

The offensive lineman, 26, had to start with Andrew Thomas out.

But he struggled to keep his discipline.

Hudson somehow managed to commit four penalties on one drive – even as the Giants progressed up the field.

That included a horrendous false start.

But worst of all was a shocking post-play personal foul.

Hudson slapped Cowboys rival Sam Williams to the ground and then wrestled him to keep him pinned down as he completely lost his head.

Commentators said it was the first time this century that one plaer had committed four penalties in one drive.

Giants coach Brian Daboll appeared visibly upset.

But he had little option due to a lack of offensive line depth.

In the end, though, he had no choice but to bench Hudson, who only arrived this season from the Cleveland Browns.

And the Ohio man did not react well.

He furiously raged on the sideline.

Team-mates and coaches had to step in to calm him down in the chaotic scenes.

And NFL fans flooded social media with reaction to Hudson.

One said: “Daboll loses all respect in my opinion if he doesn’t bench Hudson. That was horrible, and hurt the team.”

Another wrote: “I’ve never seen anything like it. He should get cut at halftime. He’s not a professional football player, he’s a child.”

A third added: “Players have been cut for less. Terrible contact.”

A fourth commented: “Never seen anything like it.”

And a final user typed: “All we can do is just laugh at this point…”
