New England Patriots & New Orleans Saints Agree To Blockbuster Wide Receiver Trade - NewsBreak

The New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints have agreed on a trade that will see wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk moved in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick.

That is according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, who notes that the Patriots have given up a 2028 seventh-round pick as part of the deal.

“The Patriots are trading WR Ja’Lynn Polk and a 2028 7th-round pick to the Saints for a 2027 6th-round pick, per sources,” Russini wrote in a tweet on Saturday. “Polk is currently on season-ending IR recovering from a shoulder injury.”

Polk struggled as a rookie after joining the Pats as a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, making 12 receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns. He also made some memorable drops that likely cost New England wins throughout the season.

Ja’Lynn Polk Didn’t Have The Best Time Off The Field In New England Either

Apart from his poor performances on the field, Polk had some controversial moments off it. At one point last term, he claimed to have the best hands in the NFL. He also shared cryptic posts suggesting he wanted out after former head coach Jerod Mayo called him out following a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The wideout was listed as a cut candidate heading into training camp, but remained with the Patriots and was likely hoping for a comeback story. Sadly, he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in NE’s preseason opener.

Ja’Lynn Polk still has two seasons left on his rookie deal, but the Patriots have six receivers under contract for next season, plus he wasn’t that high in the pecking order, so they have decided to part ways.
