The Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators have a long history against each other. Despite playing a meaningless preseason game, the players took it rather seriously.

The hockey game became a fight-filled affair marked by flying fists and siblings getting busy on the ice.

Montreal brothers Arber and Florian Xhekaj were trying to make their presence felt as they were the main ones throwing punches in the second period.

While officials were busy trying to resolve a different fight, Arber took exception to Senators forward Zack MacEwen.

Instead of using his words, he used his fists to land several haymakers to MacEwen, while another fight between Jayden Struble and Jan Jenik broke out at center ice.

The Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators were in a full-fledged Royal Rumble on the ice.

Just last year, Ottawa Senators superstar Tim Stützle suffered an eye injury when he took a puck to the face.

The 2025-26 NHL regular season begins Oct. 7.

The Montreal Canadiens were a surprise during the 2024-25 season, putting up a 40-31-11 record and getting into the postseason. The team secured the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference on the final day of the regular season.

Unfortunately, they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Washington Capitals, losing the series 4-1.

The Ottawa Senators finished the 2024-25 NHL season with a 45-30-7 record and secured a wild-card spot.

Much like Montreal, they would be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Montreal Canadiens last won the Stanley Cup in 1993. The Ottawa Senators made an appearance in the 2007 Stanley Cup Final but lost to the Anaheim Ducks. They had not won it all since 1927.
