San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy Is Officially Done - NewsBreak

The San Francisco 49ers are in some huge trouble after the harrowing news surrounding Brock Purdy.

The San Francisco 49ers have been bitten by the injury bug already, after the news that tight end George Kittle would be placed on injured reserve this week with a hamstring injury.

Now quarterback Brock Purdy is expected to miss multiple games.

Coach Kyle Shanahan had previously informed reporters that Purdy is a “long shot” to play in Week 2 vs. the New Orleans Saints due to toe and left shoulder injuries. That led to the team being linked to a trade for Kirk Cousins.

Things only got worse on Thursday as Brock Purdy is reportedly set to miss multiple games due to a toe injury suffered during the team’s Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Purdy is dealing with “a variant of turf toe” that is expected to keep him out for between two and five weeks.

Brock Purdy is set to miss multiple weeks of action due to injury. This is terrible news after the team signed him to a massive five-year, $265 million extension.

Purdy had an inconsistent season-opener as he went 26-of-35 for 277 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.

He dealt with injuries in 2024, but he went 26-of-35 for 277 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions for a 49ers team that went 6-11 and missed the playoffs.

He might not be perfect, but he certainly is the franchise quarterback.

With Purdy on the shelf, the 49ers will turn toward Mac Jones under center.

Jones was just 18-24 as a starter for the Patriots. He then moved on to have seven starts for the Jags, going 2-5 in those games.

The 49ers desperately need him to be serviceable while Purdy recovers.
