Shilo Sanders may soon get another chance to prove himself as a capable full-time NFL player.

Albert Breer: Colts Improve to 3-0!! Are They FOR REAL?

On Aug. 24, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived Shilo Sanders ahead of their final 53-man roster cuts. To add insult to injury, Sanders was fined $4,669 by the NFL for throwing a punch at Buffalo Bills tight end in the preseason finale on Aug. 23.

One month later, Sanders finally got another opportunity to showcase his talents.

According to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones, the San Francisco 49ers worked out Shilo Sanders on Tuesday. Now, we wait and see if the 49ers will offer Deion Sanders’ son and Shedeur Sanders’ older brother a contract.

Shilo and Shedeur played for Deion Sanders at Jackson State together before moving to Colorado in 2023. “Prime Time” received a lucrative contract offer from the Buffaloes and recruited his two sons, who led Colorado to a surprise 9-3 in 2024.

Shedeur was drafted 144th overall by the Cleveland Browns in round five. Shilo Sanders signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.

The 49ers are 3-0 despite an onslaught of injuries to key players. Superstar wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has yet to play this season as he recovers from last year’s season-ending knee injury.

Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle and starting quarterback Brock Purdy remain sidelined after suffering injuries in Week 1, and star defensive end Nick Bosa has been lost for the season with a torn ACL.

With an onslaught of injuries, it wouldn’t hurt the 49ers to take a chance on Shilo Sanders and see what he could bring to the table. This franchise has a knack of finding hidden gams that everybody else passed on, after all (See: Purdy, Kittle, Fred Warner, etc).
