The San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is heading into his third season with the team. The reigning Rookie of the Year has made it clear that his mindset is all about putting the team first.
So far, the Spurs are showing promise in the preseason, and Wembanyama’s energy is setting the tone. On Friday night, the Spurs faced the Indiana Pacers. Once again, Wemby’s freakish athleticism was on full display. Among his many highlight-worthy plays, one particular moment left fans speechless.
In the third quarter, Wemby was seen taking just one massive step from inside the three-point line to finish with a smooth layup under the rim. The move seemed almost physically impossible. Normally, a step-through from that far would barely get a player closer to the paint, but for Wemby, it looked effortless.
The Spurs ended the game with a 133-104 win at Frost Bank Center. The win improved them to 4-0 in preseason. Wemby scored 17 points, 12 rebounds, and one assist in 24 minutes. Julian Champagnie added 15 points, while Stephon Castle had 16 points in the win.

Fans quickly took to social media to express their disbelief and amazement after witnessing the highlight of Victor Wembanyama.
“One step from damn near the corner 3 and he in the paint. Thats crazy,” a fan reacted
“Wtf, nigga did a step through from the corner,” one user chimed in.
“That’s a legal step through. But normally if you step through from so far, you shouldn’t get so close to the basket,” one fan wrote.
“it’s so funny when people see a step through for the first time and immediately think it’s witchcraft,” a fan commented.
“Homie is nine feet tall and can step through from the perimeter to the rim. Jesus, league is on watch,” one comment read.
“One step from 3 point line then a basket,” a fan added.
“Dude did a step through from the three line and finished at the rim. Insane stride length,” a fan shared.
Wemby is determined to give his all to the Spurs after last season’s disappointment. Last season, Wembanyama appeared in 46 games after falling prey to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. However, this year, he is ready to put health concerns behind him and continue proving why the league truly is on watch.
