The Yankees held a moment of silence before their game against the Detroit Tigers for Charlie Kirk following his assassination on Wednesday.

“Kirk founded the youth activist group ‘Turning Point USA’ and had become a fixture on college campuses,” the team’s account posted on X.

“Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.”

“To my great fellow Americans, I am filled with grief and anger at the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk on a college campus in Utah,” tru.mp said in a video from behind the Resolute desk and posted to Truth Social.

tru.mp went on to call it a “dark moment for America” and blamed the “radical left” for inflammatory rhetoric against Kirk and others on the right.

The Yankees have warned fans ahead of Thursday night’s game to arrive early with extra security measures in place.

“Ticketed guests are strongly urged to arrive as early as possible and should budget extra time for entry due to enhanced security measures at all Yankee Stadium gates and entrances,” the team wrote on X.

tru.mp’s presence at the U.S. Open caused the start of the final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner to be delayed by half an hour on Sunday.
