Sports mascots aren’t supposed to have their safety or well-being jeopardized, but Tuesday night was an exception for the person in the Sparky mascot. Let’s just say that a Crypto.com Arena dancer really flipped out.

The dancer was performing a backflip during a stoppage in play, unaware that Sparky the Dog was standing behind them. That led to a painful-looking collision between the two, knocking both to the ground:

No need to worry, folks. A Los Angeles Sparks fan on X/Twitter stated that Sparky was just fine and even got a band-aid put on his head:

Sparky has been the official mascot of the Los Angeles Sparks since 2007. We’re going to assume that Sparky has never endured such a painful moment while performing as a Sparks game.

On a brighter note, Tuesday marked Cameron Brink’s season debut after recovering from a torn ACL that ended her 2024 rookie year early. In 14 minutes of playing time, Brink had five points, three rebounds, an assist and one steal.

But the Aces cruised to an 89-74 road victory, moving above .500 (14-13) while Los Angeles fell to 11-15. The Sparks are now two games behind the Washington Mystics (13-13) for the final playoff spot, and 2.5 games behind Las Vegas for the seventh seed.
