Nevada’s coach (Photo Via X)
A Little League World Series coach is taking a lot of heat for a move people are calling “classless” while his team was already up 13-0. Nevada’s Summerlin South All-Stars crushed Illinois in Wednesday’s opener, winning 16-1 without much of a fight.
Then a Nevada runner took off for second. He slid in safely. The third base coach clapped. And just like that, the blowout turned into a controversy.
With the score already out of reach, Nevada still went for a steal. And this was the move against sportsmanship, and it started the debate about whether it’s right or wrong.
Fans Split Over Steal In Little League Blowout

In most baseball circles, such as MLB or college baseball, stealing bases while holding a double-digit lead violates the sport’s unwritten rules. Some fans didn’t like this and expressed their views.
“In the LLWS, Nevada beat Illinois 16-1. Nevada was still stealing and scoring on pass balls even after being up by 13 runs… Coaches, what’s your take on this? I personally call off stealing & scoring on pass balls after being up 10,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “Stealing up 13-0 smh no sportsmanship.”
One viewer described it as the worst decision. “Bad form Coach. Blow out wins never feel good to the Team not leading. You’re a jerk in my opinion.”
Still, not everyone agreed. Some defended the decision from the coach.
One person pointed to the scenario. “Play the game in the 6th the same as the 1st. In LL baseball, anything can happen,” a fan said.
Illinois managed only four hits through five innings. A comeback was technically possible, but unlikely. For Nevada, the win set them at 1-0 in the tournament. For everyone else, the debate is still going.
