A new angle has emerged of the nasty hit that knocked out Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston, and it provides a closer look at just how violent the impact really was.
Just three plays into Saturday’s preseason game between the Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams, Justin Herbert aired out a deep ball to Johnston, who was about to make the catch before the pass was broken up by a Rams defender.
However, just when it seemed like the play was over, Rams safety Tanner Ingle came across and delivered a brutal, blindside hit on Johnston, knocking him out and causing him to smash his helmet on the ground.
The impact was so hard that it had Quentin Johnston experiencing fencing posture.

Trainers attended to Johnston before he was eventually able to leave the field and was carted back to the locker room for further evaluation.
Not long after the incident, new fan footage emerged, providing a different look at the terrifying hit that left the 23-year-old wideout motionless.
Johnston has yet to break out in his first two NFL seasons, but the Chargers had high hopes for him in year three, as their starting wide receiver opposite Ladd McConkey.
Hopefully, the injury is not as serious as it looked, and we’ll get to see him on the field again soon. Unfortunately, head injuries are usually not that straightforward, and the Chargers will likely err on the side of caution when it comes to the health of their young wideout.
