The Los Angeles Lakers have wasted no time in reshaping their roster this offseason. They brought in Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart, and Jake LaRavia to bolster their championship hopes. While the front office has been aggressive in acquiring talent, the Lakers’ approach to their core rotation pieces has been far more conservative.

According to Sean Deveney, the Lakers have already received multiple inquiries from rival teams interested in key role players like Gabe Vincent and Jarred Vanderbilt. However, the franchise has stood firm.

“Still, the feeling around the Lakers is that the team is pretty much set as it is, and that no major trades are forthcoming until the season gets rolling. The Lakers have had opportunities to include the likes of Gabe Vincent and Jarred Vanderbilt in trade packages already but have declined to do so,” the report read.

Both Vincent and Vanderbilt joined the team in 2023. They have carved out their own value in the rotation. Vincent contributed 6.4 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game last season. Vanderbilt averaged 4.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.

Lakers Set To Hire Former Mavericks Trainer To Bolster Player Performance

The Los Angeles Lakers are also focusing on the behind-the-scenes team that keeps players in peak condition. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Lakers are set to hire former Dallas Mavericks athletic performance director Jeremy Holsopple as their new head strength and conditioning coach.

Holsopple brings a strong reputation to Los Angeles. He was recognized as the NBA’s top strength and conditioning coach in 2021. During his time in Dallas, he played a key role in maintaining the health and performance of Luka Doncic.

The move comes after the Mavericks parted ways with Holsopple following the 2023-24 season. For the Lakers, that parting opened a valuable opportunity to secure a highly respected figure in player conditioning.
