According to Arizona police, Emilie Kiser’s husband, Brady Kiser, placed a bet on an NBA playoff game around the time their son drowned a few months ago.

Emilie, a popular parenting influencer with millions of followers, was out with friends on May 12 when their three-year-old boy, Trigg, drowned in their backyard pool. An unsealed report from the Chandler Police Department states that the child was in the pool for seven minutes before his father discovered his limp body.

He died in the hospital six days later.

Police initially recommended that Brady Kiser be charged with one count of child abuse, but the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office decided against it as they felt there was “no reasonable likelihood of conviction.”

Brady told police he lost sight of his son for a few moments on the night, recalling his activities, which included feeding his kids and watching an NBA playoff game featuring the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics.

“I didn’t have a clock, obviously,” he said in his initial interview, per NBC. “I don’t know the exact time, but it was moments, it wasn’t minutes, it was moments. It wasn’t that he had been out of sight for long.”

Surveillance footage showed that Trigg was unsupervised for at least nine minutes and had been in the water for at least seven before he was found.

According to the report, the toddler “did not go into the water intentionally, rather he tripped and fell in while playing with an inflatable chair.”

Brady Kiser’s phone data showed that he placed “a $25 wager was placed on Jayson Tatum scoring more than 40 points” on a betting app around the same time.

The bet hit, winning him $102.50, but he will rue ever making it.

Emilie Kiser has not made any public statements on her son’s tragic passing.
