There is an epidemic of dildos being thrown during WNBA games.
Sex toys have been thrown onto the court during multiple WNBA games, leading to arrests and investigations.
Nobody knows when the next sex toy might come flying onto the court, but there seems to be a group pushing for it to happen.
The unfortunate trend is generating a wide range of reactions from players and fans alike.
Cryptocurrency meme coin creators say they are responsible for the sex toys being thrown at multiple WNBA games, and they are planning more in the near future.
Now, @Daldo_Rain, a spokesman for the cryptocurrency enthusiasts, told USA Today the group is responsible for the pranks as it originally started out as a joke.
“We didn’t do this because like we dislike women’s sports or, like, some of the narratives that are trending right now are ridiculous,” he said.
“Creating disruption at games is like, it happens in every single sport, right? We’ve seen it in the NFL, we’ve seen it in hockey, you know . . . fans doing random things to more or less create attention.”
Since the beginning of the dildos being thrown, there have been two arrests, but the crypto spokesman said those people were not associated with the group.
23-year-old Delbert Carver found himself behind bars after throwing an object at a July 29 WNBA game in Atlanta and was charged with disorderly conduct, public indecency/indecent exposure, and criminal trespass.
According to the arrest affidavit, Carver told police, “This was supposed to be a joke, and this joke (was) supposed to go viral. “
Now, his joke has landed him with an arrest record.
18-year-old Kaden Lopez was arrested this week after throwing a dildo that hit a man watching the game with his 9-year-old niece in the crowd at a Phoenix Mercury game on Aug. 5.
He called it a “stupid prank that was trending on social media.”

For anyone tuned in to the 29 July game between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries, you had no clue that a dildo would fly from the sky and onto the court.
A nearly identical incident occurred just a few days later when the Valkyries were playing the Chicago Sky.
The third incident happened when another one was thrown and hit Sophie Cunningham.
