Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry

The Montreal dinner is gaining more attention than anything now. Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau, who turned heads Monday night with a surprise dinner together at Le Violon, one of Montreal’s upscale dining spots.

The pop superstar and Canada’s former prime minister didn’t just grab a quick bite. They took their time, sipped cocktails, shared plates, and seemed genuinely engaged with each other.

TMZ snagged the footage that’s now fueling plenty of speculation, showing the two deep in conversation, with Katy leaning in, visibly tuned in to what Trudeau had to say.

One dish reportedly included lobster, because, of course, if you’re dining in Montreal with a world-famous singer or a former head of state, you order the lobster.

No Ordinary Dinner Between Trudeau And Katy

Eyewitnesses at Le Violon say the vibe was calm, but not exactly low-key. Security guards watched closely from the bar, eyes scanning the mirrored glass while staying discreet.

At one point, the chef came over to greet them personally. That wasn’t the end of it, though. After their meal, Katy and Trudeau headed to the kitchen to thank the staff face-to-face, a small gesture, but it says a lot.

Katy, who’s currently on tour in Canada, had a show in Ottawa the next night and another one coming up back in Montreal. So this pit stop with Trudeau wasn’t just a casual meet-up on tour. Especially since both are navigating life post-breakup. Katy split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a daughter. Trudeau separated from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.

Now, are they just friends catching up, or is something more to it? Nobody is sure. And neither Katy nor Trudeau has commented.

Still, when a global pop icon and one of Canada’s most talked-about political figures share an intimate dinner in a mirrored restaurant with security watching their every move, people notice.

As they say in Montreal, bon appetite, and maybe, bonne chance.
