Two Miami Dolphins players got into a brouhaha during joint practice with the Chicago Bears on Friday.
The Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears held a joint practice ahead of their preseason showdown this Sunday (1:00 p.m. EST). Though it’s not uncommon for players on opposing teams to fight during joint practices, something incredibly bizarre unfolded between Dolphins players.
In the video below, Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks could be seen getting held back by multiple teammates as a scrum unfolded on the field. Another player escorted a visibly angry Brooks away from the scene:
Per ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel even had to break up a heated scuffle between Miami center Aaron Brewer and Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson.
Regarding Brooks’ brouhaha with the unidentified teammate, Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick said that the linebacker was just trying to hold his teammates “to a high standard”, per Louis-Jacques:
“He’s another dude that’s passionate about the game. He loves the game. Even today, he was holding people to a high standard and it becomes confrontational — but I think that’s necessary when you do anything to a high standard.”
The 27-year-old Brooks, a 2020 first-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks, is entering the second of a three-year deal he signed with Miami last year. In 2024, Brooks recorded three sacks, six pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.
Injuries to key players like Tua Tagovailoa, Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb led to a down season for the Dolphins, who finished 8-9 for their first losing campaign since 2019.
Miami Dolphins Open 2025 Season At Indianapolis Colts

The Dolphins will begin their 2025 campaign with a road tilt against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sept. 7. Miami is 4-0 in Week 1 games under Tua Tagovailoa, including a thrilling comeback win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.
Indianapolis defeated Miami 16-10 at Lucas Oil Stadium in their 2024 meeting, with Dolphins backup Tyler Huntley (87 passing yards) struggling mightily in place of an injured Tagovailoa.
