Mark Sanchez is not on broadcast for Fox for the second straight week. He was scheduled to call Sunday’s matchup between the Seattle Seahawks’ trip to Florida to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, but speculation about his future with the network has surfaced following an incident that occurred in Indianapolis, where he was stabbed after allegedly assaulting a 69-year-old man.

Mark Schlereth replaced him this week after Sanchez was replaced by Brady Quinn last week.

In the meantime, he has to deal with being mocked online and on national television.

“Saturday Night Live” spares no expense when it comes to throwing shots at Weekend Update host Colin Jost couldn’t help but poke fun at the team and former Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Transcribed per NY Post:

“Former Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has been accused of drunkenly assaulting a delivery driver before the driver stabbed him. The penalties offset, repeat first down,” Jost cracked during the weekly mock news segment. “If convicted, Sanchez could be sent to prison, or worse, back to the Jets.”

The former Jets star was facing multiple charges, initially including battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication, all misdemeanors.

Later on, prosecutors escalated one of the charges to felony battery involving serious bodily injury, which could result in a prison sentence of one to six years if found guilty.

Mark Sanchez Goes To Jail

Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez briefly booked in Indianapolis jail
Mark Sanchez was booked into an Indianapolis jail after being released from the hospital following an alleged assault on a 69-year-old truck driver who stabbed him in self-defense.

The 38-year-old was seen limping and wearing an arm sling as he entered the Marion County Jail on Sunday to be fingerprinted and have his mugshot taken.

After being booked, Sanchez was released.

Following his release, he would speak to reporters and thank first responders and hospital staff, telling reporters he was now focused on his recovery.

Now that he has been released, he is able to leave the state of Indiana and return home.

In the meantime, 69-year-old Perry Tole has sued Sanchez and Fox over the alleged incident because he’s suffered “severe permanent disfigurement, loss of function, other physical injuries, emotional distress, and other damages.”
