Actor Denzel Washington ripped into Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones during an appearance on ESPN’s ‘First Take’ on Tuesday.
Washington joined producer Spike Lee on the network’s flagship program to promote their upcoming movie, ‘Highest 2 Lowest’.
The entertainment icons have collaborated for their fifth film in 19 years, but only the first since ‘Inside Man’ in 2006, with the movie scheduled for launch in theaters on August 15, while it will be available for streaming on Apple TV+ on September 5.
Given that the Cowboys typically come up whenever Stephen A. Smith is involved in anything and Denzel happens to be a die-hard fan, the big screen legend had some words for Jones.
“There’s box office and there’s Oscars, Jerry. Been a while, huh? You ain’t been to the show,” he remarked. “You wouldn’t know. Haven’t been to the show, so you wouldn’t know what it is to win.”

Denzel explained that his vitriol is coming from a place of love because he is a massive Cowboys fan.
“And I love the Cowboys! I love the Cowboys because I really love them. This is why I feel the way I feel, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about. I’m here to talk about the movie,” he continued.
He went on to let Jerry know that “All money ain’t good money,” one of the central themes from the upcoming film, before announcing the August 15 release date. “We open Friday,” he said.
‘Highest 2 Lowest’ is a modern-day reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 movie ‘High and Low’.
Denzel Washington plays music mogul David King, whose son is kidnapped by an aspiring rapper, played by rapper A$AP Rocky. The film also marks the big-screen debut of female rapper Ice Spice.
Jerry Jones will probably not be watching.
