Jaylen Brown is heading to his tenth season with the Boston Celtics after getting drafted third overall by the team. Throughout his career in the league, he has matched up against countless opponents. Some are easier to contain; others are far more challenging.
During an appearance on PlaqueBoyMax’s Twitch stream, Brown was asked to name the toughest player he has ever had to guard. Without hesitation, he gave a surprising answer—Marco Belinelli. Brown went on to explain that Belinelli’s unpredictable style made defending him exhausting.
“Marco Bellinelli, he used to light me up, bro. He just used to never stop moving. And I used to have to chase him around the system we had. Used to chase Marco Bellinelli around all these different screens. And, like, he not even getting the ball, and he’s still, like, moving back and forth,” Brown said.
“So you never know when he is about to take off at full speed and start running and catch the ball. And that shit would just be tiring as hell.”
Belinelli last appeared in the NBA during the 2019-20 season with the San Antonio Spurs. But his career spanned numerous teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Toronto Raptors, and Golden State Warriors.

During the same interview, Brown was also asked to name his Mount Rushmore of NBA players. Shockingly, the Celtics star left Michael Jordan off his list.
However, Brown named some notable names. He mentioned Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Steph Curry, Allen Iverson, and Tracy McGrady as the players he holds in the highest regard.
Throughout his career, Brown has had the privilege of witnessing these players’ impact and legacy firsthand. His picks seemingly were made with careful thought and personal admiration. Still, the absence of Jordan’s name is bound to stir debate among basketball fans.
