LSU freshman running back JT Lindsey spent his Friday in a way no athlete hopes to. Walking into the LSU Police Department to turn himself in.
The 18-year-old, once celebrated as a four-star recruit, now faces a charge of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. Officials told WBRZ about the arrest, however, they kept quiet on details, citing the ongoing legal process. Meanwhile, court records show Lindsey left East Baton Rouge Parish Prison later that night.
The case centers on two people from Alexandria, Louisiana, Shemell Jacobs and Keldrick Jordan, who are suspects in a deadly shooting back in May. Arrest documents say both stayed at Lindsey’s Riverbend Hall apartment. Investigators also found Jacobs carrying Lindsey’s LSU ID.
Attorney Pushes Back On JT Lindsey Allegations

Defense attorney Kris Perret says Lindsey didn’t know his guests were wanted for murder. “He is adamant that he is innocent of any alleged criminal misconduct,” Perret told WBRZ.
Police reports a different angle. An associate of Lindsey told investigators the running back knew the two were wanted. The arrest warrant cites Louisiana law on accessories after the fact. It basically covers anyone who helps a felony suspect avoid arrest while knowing, or having reason to believe, the person committed the crime.
Perret insists Lindsey’s actions never crossed that line. He says Lindsey let the two stay “for a couple of nights” starting around July 24, not knowing they faced murder charges. “Had he known that the individuals were accused of any crimes or wanted by the police, he would not have allowed them into his apartment,“ Perret said.
Investigators arrested Jacobs and Jordan without incident. Lindsey says he’s glad for that outcome and is cooperating fully. “At no time did JT Lindsey do anything, nor take any actions, nor demonstrate any intent whatsoever to harbor, conceal, or aid either of the accused,” Perret added.
LSU Athletics says it’s aware of the arrest. For now, the team stays silent. The legal fight is just beginning, leaving Lindsey’s future on the field unclear.
