Connor Zilisch has suffered an injury in the most unlikely way this Saturday, breaking his collarbone after a nasty fall while celebrating at victory lane at Watkins Glen International.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series points leader had climbed onto the roof of his car when he slipped after his foot got stuck in the driver’s side window netting. He was unable to catch the fall, experiencing a hard landing that resulted in a broken collarbone.
Check it out in the video below:
Zilisch, 19, was carried to the trackside medical center on a backboard and later taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

X-rays showed Zilisch had a broken collarbone after the unfortunate topple.
On a brighter note, CT scans didn’t pick up any head injuries, while he surprisingly didn’t suffer any injury to his leg.
The Charlotte native shared an update via X on Saturday night, thanking fans for their support while also expressing gratitude for the quick medical attention.
“Thank you everybody for reaching out today,” he wrote. “I’m out of the hospital and getting better already. Thankfully, CT scans for my head are clear, I just have a broken collarbone. Thankful for all the medics for quick attention and grateful it wasn’t any worse.❤️”
His next Xfinity start is scheduled for August 22, while Trackhouse Racing has withdrawn the No. 87 Chevrolet he was supposed to drive in Sunday’s Cup race.
The 19-year-old had previously missed a race after a back injury sustained in a crash at Talladega Superspeedway and has recorded 11 consecutive top-five finishes since coming back.
We wish him a speedy recovery, no pun intended.
