Lakers guard Luka Doncic receives an encouraging update after suffering a right knee injury amid EuroBasket competition for Slovenia.

After Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic experienced a knee injury scare overseas while participating in the EuroBasket tournament with Slovenia, he received an encouraging update. Competing for the first time since the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of last year’s playoffs, Doncic’s update meant a short-term recovery, as the veteran guard was fortunate the injury wasn’t as servere as it seemed.

After he was able to walk back to the bench on his own, Doncic will return to the floor for Slovenia’s next home game, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

“Luka Dončić has been cleared to play for Slovenia in Tuesday night’s home game against Great Britain,” Stein reported.

Doncic is also expected to return to practice on Monday as Slovenia prepares for their matchup against Great Britain on Tuesday. Fortunately, Doncic avoided a severe injury, which could have ended his playing time with Slovenia as the 2025-26 campaign is a high-anticiapted season for the former Dallas Maverick.

Lakers guard Luka Doncic suffered a right knee injury in an exhibition matchup against Latvia on Saturday. After sitting out of the first leg of a back-to-back, Doncic returned to the floor for Saturday’s game, where his night was ended shorly after suffering the knee injury, per The Athletic’s Dan Woike.

“Luka Doncic was able to walk to the locker room on his own during a Slovenian game but he was favoring his right leg after a teammate was pushed into him. We’ll see if he returns in the second half of this exhibition against Latvia,” Woike reported.

After signing a three-year extension during the offseason, it’ll be his first full season with the Lakers as fans are excited to him return donning purple and gold for the 2025-26 campaign.
