NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is one of the most respected figures in pro sports. Ever since being appointed in 2014, he has dealt with many issues within the league. One of the most notable moves he has made during his early years as a commissioner was ousting then-Clippers owner Donald Sterling due to racial remarks.
Coincidentally, Silver has to deal with another problem involving the Los Angeles Clippers. This time, it surrounds Kawhi Leonard’s shady endorsement deal with Aspirations Inc. Clippers majority owner Steve Ballmer and minority owner Dennis Wong have also been included in the bombshell. In yet another interview, Adam Silver provided his perspective on where the league is currently with its investigation.
“We will bring all the resources we need to bear on this investigation. I don’t know anything more yet, as I’ve been very public about it. I’d be saying this to anybody who has been accused of anything. I’m a lawyer. I believe in due process. I believe in fairness. We will begin with a presumption of innocence, not a presumption of guilt. We will follow the facts,” Adam Silver on the Clippers’ scandal on X.
It isn’t surprising that Silver has taken a cautious approach to this problem. He wants to please other owners because it’s bad for business when somebody starts doing shady deals on the side. Tons of fans are rightfully furious about the Clippers trying to circumvent the salary cap.

As unfortunate as it is, fans have already accused Silver of taking bribes about the problem. They’ve also pointed out that Ballmer, whose net worth is $153 billion, will arguably come out nearly unscathed because any fine would hardly make a dent with his massive fortune.
Kawhi Leonard has continued to stay mum on the issue. He hasn’t made any public statement on any of his social media accounts, and as a result, his name has been dragged deeper into this mess. With no suspensions or fines with training camp nearing, expect that the investigation will drag on until the start of the 2025-26 season.
