Throughout his illustrious career and life beyond the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal has never been just a big man on the court. Rather, he’s always been a larger-than-life personality. He was known as much for his dominant presence as his outspoken nature. Shaq once even sparked a feud with then-Miami Heat coach Pat Riley, which reportedly led to him being traded the very next day.

Though he has retired from professional basketball, Shaq’s fiery attitude remains unchanged. Reports now suggest that the former Los Angeles Lakers star has agreed to a boxing match against Philadelphia bodyguard Charles ‘Charlie Mack’ Alston, famously known as Will Smith’s former bodyguard.

Standing at seven feet tall, Shaq has previously stepped into the ring against boxing legends like Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley, but he lost both contests. This upcoming matchup has raised eyebrows, partly because Shaq is now 53 years old, while his opponent is significantly younger and in prime physical condition.

TMZ recently spoke with Shaq’s son, Myles O’Neal, about his father’s upcoming clash. In response, Myles shared his initial reaction to the news.

“I didn’t know about this, but I mean, he’s old, very old. I got to look more into this, but hopefully I’ll be there. You’ll be there,” Myles said.

When asked whether he was worried about his father, Myles didn’t hide his concern.

“I worry about him every day. You know, we do a lot of stuff, random stuff on the road. I don’t know. Our boxing match is kind of crazy. But, you know, however you’re inside, I’ll support. I’ll help him train, stuff like that,” he explained.

The matchup against Alston may seem daring. But it’s another chapter in the unpredictable life of the Lakers legend.
