Kevin Durant is undoubtedly one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. He has won the NBA scoring championship four times, a remarkable achievement that is often praised. However, Durant feels that the title of “Greatest Scorer” undermines his overall greatness.
Recently, a fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) pointed out that Kevin Durant last led his team in field goal attempts per game in 2018. In response, Dime Dropper commented, “Greatest scorer ever my a**. Yall like efficiency more than what’s needed to win.”
Durant was quick in responding, “30k points on low fga. Ima coaches dream. Dime dropper, I mastered scoring at 24 years old man. Give it a rest, I don’t care about being the best scorer ever. You are diminishing my all time greatness callin me that.”
Durant is well-known for engaging with his fans. He frequently interacts with them and addresses his critics on social media.

After extensive trade speculation, Kevin Durant officially joined the Houston Rockets on July 6, 2025, in a historic seven-team trade—the largest in NBA history. This move sparked significant discussions throughout the league. Fans are eagerly anticipating how Durant will influence the Rockets’ performance in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported that the Rockets are not in a hurry to offer Durant a maximum contract extension.
“The Rockets aren’t gonna go all-in, by all appearances and by what I’ve heard, they’re not going all-in on an extension for Kevin Durant… Now, doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but there’ve been rumblings KD’s not gonna push for the full max. I don’t know that the Rockets are going to put anything on the table that’s close to the max. I think the Rockets are like… it’s not ideal, but I don’t think they’d panic if they go into the season with Kevin Durant just on the contract that he’s on, just on the expiring deal,” MacMahon said in the latest episode of the Hoop Collective Podcast.
Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 62 games in the 2024-25 NBA season.
