Shane Bieber

The last time Shane Bieber took the mound was on April 2, 2024. The former Cy Young Award winner underwent Tommy John surgery that ended his season. The Cleveland Guardians were unable to reap the benefits of Bieber last season. In his limited appearance, he held a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA.

The Guardians, who are fighting for the playoffs, traded one of their best pitchers to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Guardians acquired the Blue Jays’ No. 5 pitching prospect, Khal Stephen, for Bieber. Toronto also took on Bieber’s contract, hoping for his return.

Shane Bieber Is Expected To Pitch Within A Week For The Blue Jays

As the Blue Jays predicted, Bieber is almost ready to get back on the mound. According to ESPN reporter Alden Gonzalez, Bieber has already made his fifth rehab start and is not far away from pitching in the MLB.

“The right-hander made his fifth rehab start — and first since being acquired by the Blue Jays — on Sunday, striking out six batters across five innings. He’ll make another start on Saturday, then perhaps one more after that,” Gonzalez wrote via ESPN.

The Blue Jays have done an incredible job of staying on top of the AL East for a long time. They hold a 68-48 record and are four games ahead of the Boston Red Sox. Toronto’s powerful offense has made it a threat to opponents in the American League.

With less than two months remaining for the playoffs, the Blue Jays are already looking like a strong contender. Shane Bieber’s arrival will be the turning point for the team. The talented pitcher is arriving at the right time to help them win in the postseason.

Bieber will join Jose Berrios and Kevin Gausman and boost their rotation. It’s a gamble for the Blue Jays, especially since he’s fresh off Tommy John. However, his rehab sessions have been intense, and they seem to have made the right decision by signing him from the Guardians.
