Last season, just before the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Clippers decided to move on from center Mo Bamba. In a deal with the Utah Jazz, the Clippers acquired Drew Eubanks and veteran guard Patty Mills, while Utah received Bamba, a future second-round pick, and cash considerations.

However, Bamba’s stint with the Jazz didn’t even begin. Surprisingly, Utah waived him the very next day. The period was already difficult for Bamba, but a close friend unintentionally made things worse. During his time with the Clippers, Bamba took a jibe at Joel Embiid over not playing back-to-back games.

Speaking on a Twitch live stream, Bamba shared that during that uncertain week, when he was trying to figure out his next destination, his friend Sean sent him an unemployment link.

I waived from Utah. And this is when I was probably just going to go to another, I was going to go right to another team. Feel me? It’s whatever. But like, it was like a week span of where we was trying to figure out which other team I was going to go to. This nigga Sean is an asshole. This nigga going to send me, this nigga going to send me an unemployment link, bro,” Bamba said.

Despite the setback, Bamba quickly found another opportunity. He later signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. However, the deal has since expired, and the former lottery pick is once again a free agent.

Bamba began his NBA journey with the Orlando Magic after being selected sixth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft out of the University of Texas. He went on to spend four and a half seasons in Orlando before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

In the 2022-23 season, Bamba had a short stint with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he appeared in just nine games. Following that, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers ahead of the next campaign. His career then took him back to Los Angeles in the 2024 offseason when he joined the Clippers on a one-year contract.

During his most recent campaign, Bamba suited up for 28 games with the Clippers. In those appearances, he averaged 4.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. Later, with the New Orleans Pelicans, he only managed five appearances, averaging 2.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 0.4 assists.
