LeBron James’ retirement rumors persist, but agent Paul insists his floor equals Karl Malone’s prime, dismissing last season talk and suggesting Lakers icon isn’t done.

LeBron James has now become synonymous with the NBA. While the league has witnessed many great talents over the years, none have reached the heights that James has, not even after Michael Jordan. Unfortunately, just like all good things, James’s stint with the NBA is also coming to an end.

The rumors about his retirement have been flying around since the last season. And while James is still hitting historic milestones, the buzz around his retirement hasn’t died down anytime soon. With the speculations that perhaps this will be James’ final dance in the NBA, his agent has finally broken the silence on the topic.

In a recent interaction on the ‘Game Over’ podcast, Paul pointed out that James ‘floor’ is Karl Malone’s prime. Thus, it is extremely unlikely that the Lakers’ legend will hang up his boots anytime soon.

“Obviously, his ceiling is who he is and has been for his career, but the floor is Karl Malone… Everyone is like ‘do the farewell tour it’s his last year’ this an that, I don’t know what it is, but l hope it’s not his last. I hope it’s not his last year. I don’t talk to him about it,” said Paul.

Surely, this was a pretty strong statement, which is expected to pacify the raging debate as of now. Meanwhile, as James is struggling with his injuries, the Lakers will be taking a final decision on James’ back-to-back status.

James had some serious injury concerns this year. Right at the start of the season, the icon missed a chunk of games. And while he is now recovering, his playing consecutive games does not seem feasible.

Thus, keeping a close eye on the 41-year-old, the Lakers will be deciding the fate of whether to give James back-to-back games or not.

Dave McMenamin, in his recent report, stated, “The term that the Lakers keep using is uncharted territory when it comes to LeBron. So he’s going to play tonight in New Orleans, and then sources tell me they’re going to take it game by game and see how his body feels.”

Thus, with things looking a bit complicated, fans are now eager to see how things pan out.
