In a fan inquiry, NBA insider Brett Siegel shared on X that the Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks have unexpectedly entered the mix as serious contenders to acquire Michael Porter Jr.
Even without completing a full season with the Brooklyn Nets, Michael Porter Jr. is already emerging as a strong trade candidate. According to reports, Porter Jr. is considered “a lock” to be moved by Brooklyn before the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline.

Now, possible landing spots for Porter Jr. have begun to surface. In a fan inquiry, NBA insider Brett Siegel shared on X that the Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks have unexpectedly entered the mix as serious contenders to acquire the Nets’ star.
“Yes, Warriors and Bucks. We will have more on this after weekend conversations on @ClutchPoints,” Siegel wrote.
Previously, Jake Fischer reported that the Warriors have internally explored scenarios involving Porter Jr. Additionally, Golden State forward Jonathan Kuminga becomes trade-eligible on Jan. 15. While Brooklyn is reportedly not interested in Kuminga at this stage, a deal could still be structured by bringing in a third team to facilitate the move.
From Milwaukee’s perspective, the situation is equally interesting. The Bucks have recently learned that Giannis Antetokounmpo intends to retire with the franchise. Hence, Milwaukee has remained active on the trade market, and an aggressive push to acquire Porter Jr. as a key piece alongside Giannis would align with their win-now mindset.

During a recent press conference, Porter Jr. opened up about his mindset, expectations, and the challenges that have shaped his career.
“My expectation was to be the best player in the NBA. Injuries had its way with me… I knew what I was capable of… What I’m doing now is not a shock to me. I have been through a lot in my career. It does take a lot of hard work to stay resilient,” Porter Jr. said.
Brooklyn currently sits at the No. 13 seed in the Eastern Conference with an 11–25 record. Despite the team’s struggles, Porter Jr.’s stellar performances this season have elevated his value and placed him firmly in trade conversations.
As the Nets once again face an uphill battle, it appears another fresh start could be on the horizon for the 2023 NBA champion that may see him chasing another title with a proven contender like the Warriors or the Bucks.
