The meeting between Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti and John Harbaugh was reportedly “difficult” when the latter got dismissed on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Ravens announced that they had fired John Harbaugh after 18 seasons. He was the second-longest active tenured head coach in the NFL, behind only Mike Tomlin (since 2007) of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Baltimore’s roller-coaster of a 2025 season ended in heartbreaking fashion against Pittsburgh on Sunday. With the AFC North on the line, Ravens kicker Tyler Loop missed a 44-yard field goal wide right.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Harbaugh and Bisciotti’s meeting lasted “all day” before the 63-year-old was let go. Schultz added it was a “very honest, very open” conversation and even “quite difficult.”

Late in the season, reports surfaced of a potential rift between John Harbaugh and Lamar Jackson. We don’t know the extent of the truth to that. But if their relationship was beyond repair, then Baltimore obviously had little choice but to make a coaching change.

The good news for Harbaugh is that he won’t have to wait long for a new coaching job, assuming he wants to jump back in right away.

The Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants and Tennessee Titans also have head coaching vacancies. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Harbaugh will likely emerge as the favorite to land the Giants’ HC gig, too.

Yes, the Ravens needed to make a change. But it’s not an indictment of Harbaugh as a coach. This man had three losing seasons in 18 years. Or, essentially, one every six years. If Harbaugh wants to get back to coaching right away, he’ll surely have multiple offers on the table.
