A New Jersey school district issued a scathing statement after social media detectives wrongfully accused them of employing Phillies Karen.
Trea Turner’s solo home run (15)
On Friday evening, a viral video surfaced of a Philadelphia Phillies fan obtaining Harrison Bader’s home run ball in the fourth inning against the Miami Marlins. The man handed the ball over to his son, only to be confronted by the so-called “Phillies Karen”, who demanded that he give the souvenir to her.
Wanting to end the confrontation, the man complied and handed the baseball over. The clip quickly went viral, with countless fans expressing outrage over the woman’s actions. Some sleuths thought they identified the woman as Cheryl Richardson Wagner, but she was ruled out as the culprit.
There were also false reports about Phillies Karen being employed by the Hammonton School District in Atlantic County, New Jersey.
However, the school district threw hysterical shade at Karen while clarifying that they have never employed the woman. You can read the Hammonton School District’s full statement below:
What can we say? Phillies Karen’s actions are one way of obtaining 15 minutes (or in this case, 24 hours) of fame.

While it’s impossible to justify the actions and behavior of “Karen”, especially in front of kids, the good news is that things worked out for the father who initially obtained Bader’s home run ball.
After being informed of the incident, the Marlins gave the young fan a prize pack and multiple baseballs. Following the game, Bader met with the young fan and awarded him an autographed baseball bat.
It’s every MLB fan’s dream to catch a foul or home run ball at a live game, yes, but Phillies Karen didn’t need to make a scene and put the father and his son in an uncomfortable position. But hey, at least everything worked out for them in the end.
