Not Just Philip Rivers: Four-Time Pro Bowl QB Drops Bombshell NFL Comeback Tease—You Won’t Believe Who’s Teasing a Return

A former Pro Bowler could make a shocking NFL return
Philip Rivers’ shocking return from retirement was one of the biggest storylines of the NFL season. The 44-year-old showed that he still had plenty left in the tank despite being slightly overweight and five years removed from retirement.

That might lead other teams to believe that other retired guys still got it. Moreover, those who walked away from the game may also feel that way.
Notably, that might include Derek Carr. In a recent chat with his brother David on their Home Grown Network podcast, it seemed that he would be open to making a comeback. That’s, of course, if Klint Kubiak gets the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coaching position:
“Klint Kubiak’s the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders,” David said, per Yahoo Sports. His brother interjected with “That’d be so awesome.” Then, when David started chanting the chorus of “Coming Home,” Carr just laughed and said. “It’s a good song. It’s a pretty song. I’m just not going to talk the rest of this segment.”
Kubiak was Carr’s offensive coordinator with the New Orleans Saints. And, while his days with the Raiders didn’t end well, he was always vocal about his desire to retire with the team.

Notably, this isn’t the first time that the Carrs have teased a potential comeback. Carr is just 34 years old, and he was forced to retire because of a shoulder injury, not because he didn’t want to play anymore.
When asked about that, his brother David claimed that Carr would only return in the right situation. He doesn’t want to be a stopgap; he wants to be there for the long run:
“Derek would like to be in a situation that obviously is a team that really needs a guy to come in and take em’ for the long haul,” David Carr told ABC months ago. “There’s a feeling that maybe Joe Burrow might come back at some point this year – at least try to come back. I don’t know if Derek would feel comfortable being in a situation where say he was to enter in a team situation where the quarterback was hurt and he drove them all the way in, they got into the playoffs, and then he had to go sit on the sidelines.”
Carr also reportedly rejected a desperate AFC team this season, so people in the league clearly still believe he can play. Whether he’ll get another chance remains to be seen.
