Her fate seemed sealed when her brother forced her into slavery for five years, living in darkness and fear. But everything changed when the most powerful man in town appeared, his cold gaze sweeping across the room as he declared she belonged to him from that moment on, triggering a tense clash between dominion and a traumatic past.

Nia knelt on the cold stone floor of the kitchen, scrubbing the same spot she had scrubbed a thousand times before. Her hands were raw and cracked from the harsh soap and freezing water. Her knees achd from hours of kneeling on the hard surface. Her back screamed in pain from bending over, but she did not dare stop.

She could feel her brother Marco watching her from the doorway with those cruel dark eyes that held nothing but hatred and contempt. He was waiting for her to make a mistake. He was always waiting for her to make a mistake so he could punish her. Nia was 22 years old, but she felt like she had lived a 100 painful years.

Her body was thin and weak from years of eating nothing but scraps and leftovers. Her long, dark hair that had once been beautiful and shiny was now tangled and matted and dull. Her clothes were nothing but rags that barely covered her body and provided no warmth against the bitter cold that seeped through the walls of the pack house.

Dark circles lived permanently under her eyes because nightmares haunted her sleep every single night. She could not remember the last time she had smiled or laughed or felt anything other than despair and hopelessness. 5 years ago, Nia had been a completely different person. She had been the beloved daughter of the Alpha and Luna of the Silver Creek Pack.

She had been happy and carefree and full of dreams about her future. Her wolf had been strong and beautiful with silver fur that sparkled in the moonlight. Everyone in the pack had adored her and said she would grow up to be a powerful wolf. But then came that terrible night that destroyed everything. Nia could still see it when she closed her eyes.

She could still smell the smoke and feel the heat of the flames. She could still hear the screams of her parents as the fire consumed them. It was an accident. Nia had been practicing her wolf abilities and something went wrong. A spark flew from her hands and caught the curtains on fire.

The flame spread so fast that nobody could stop them. Her parents pushed her out of the room to safety, but they did not make it out themselves. Nia remembered screaming and crying and trying to run back into the burning room, but strong arms held her back. She remembered the looks on the faces of the pack members as they watched their Alpha and Luna burn to death.

She remembered her brother Marco arriving too late to save them. And she remembered the moment Marco looked at her with pure hatred and declared to everyone that she had murdered their parents on purpose. Nobody believed Nia when she said it was an accident. Nobody listened to her cries and please. The pack elders held a trial and found her guilty of killing the alpha and Luna.

As punishment, they bound her wolf abilities so she could no longer shift or use any of her powers. They stripped her of her rank and her name and everything she had ever known. Marco became the new alpha, and his first act was to make Nia his personal slave. For 5 years, Nia had lived in a tiny room in the basement that was more like a closet than a bedroom.

She slept on a thin mat on the floor with only a threadbear blanket to keep her warm. She woke up before dawn every day to start her endless list of chores. She cleaned the entire pack house from top to bottom. She washed mountains of laundry by hand. She cooked meals that she was not allowed to eat.

She served the pack members who spat on her and called her murderer and monster. Marco beat her whenever he felt like it, which was often. He starved her and humiliated her and made her life a living nightmare. The other pack members followed his example and treated her like garbage. Some of them had been her friends once, but now they acted like she did not exist, or worse, they went out of their way to make her suffer.

Nia had thought about running away many times, but she knew it was impossible. Without her wolf abilities, she was weak and defenseless. She would not survive a day in the wild territories where rogues and dangerous creatures roamed. And even if she could escape, Marco had made it clear that he would hunt her down and make her pay.

So Nia stayed and suffered and tried to survive one day at a time. She had given up hope of ever being free. She had given up hope of ever being happy again. She had given up hope of finding her mate, the one person who was supposed to love her unconditionally. What kind of mate would want a broken slave like her anyway? Nia pushed these dark thoughts aside and focused on her scrubbing? Thinking about the past only made the present harder to bear.

She just needed to get through today. That was all she could do. get through today and then get through tomorrow and then the day after that. Maybe one day the pain would finally end. But today something was different in the pack house. Nia had noticed it from the moment she woke up. There was a tension in the air that had not been there before.

The pack members were whispering to each other in nervous voices. Marco had been pacing around the house all morning, looking anxious and angry and scared all at the same time. Nia had never seen her brother scared before, and it made her curious despite herself. She had heard fragments of conversation as she went about her chores.

A powerful alpha was coming to visit. He wanted to make some kind of contract with the Silver Creek Pack. His name was Dne, and he was the alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, which was the largest and most powerful pack in all the territories. The things people said about Alpha Dne made Nia’s blood run cold. They said he was ruthless and merciless and that he had killed hundreds of wolves with his bare hands.

They said his eyes were crimson red like fresh blood and that he could see into your soul with a single glance. They said entire packs surrendered to him without a fight because they knew they had no chance of winning against him. They said he had never found his mate and that he had given up looking. They said he was cold as ice and that nothing could touch his frozen heart.

Nia did not care about any of this. Powerful alphas and pack politics had nothing to do with her anymore. She was just a slave who scrubbed floors and washed dishes. Whatever business Alpha Dne had with Marco, it would not affect her in any way. She just wanted to finish her chores and hide in her tiny basement room before the important guest arrived.

The last thing she needed was to be seen by a powerful alpha while she looked like a dirty beggar. But fate had never been kind to Nia. And today would be no different. She was so focused on her scrubbing that she did not hear the front door open. She did not hear the heavy footsteps entering the house. She did not notice the sudden silence that fell over everyone in the room.

She only looked up when she felt it. A presence so powerful and overwhelming that it pressed down on her like a physical weight. Nia lifted her head and her breath caught in her throat. Her heart stopped beating for a moment and then started again at twice its normal speed. Standing in the doorway of the pack house was the most magnificent man she had ever seen in her entire life.

He was tall, so tall that he seemed to fill the entire doorway with his massive frame. His shoulders were broad and his chest was wide, and his arms were thick with muscles that strained against the fabric of his perfectly tailored black shirt. His legs were long and powerful, like tree trunks wrapped in expensive black pants.

His hair was dark as midnight, and swept back from his face in waves that made Nia want to run her fingers through them. His face was handsome in a dangerous way, with sharp cheekbones and a strong jaw and full lips that were pressed into a hard line. But it was his eyes that made Nia freeze in place like a deer caught in headlights.

They were crimson red, not brown or hazel with hints of red. They were pure deep crimson like blood and fire and rubies all mixed together. Those eyes scanned the room slowly taking in every detail and every person with cold calculation. And then those eyes landed on Nia. She felt the impact of his gaze like a physical blow to her chest.

Something stirred deep inside her. Something that had been sleeping for five long years. It was her wolf. Her bound and dormant wolf was suddenly awake and alert and straining against its chains. Nia did not understand what was happening. She could not move. She could not breathe. She could only stare into those crimson eyes as the most powerful alpha in all the territories stared right back at her.

Alpha Dne stepped into the house and the floorboards seemed to tremble under his weight. The air around him crackled with power and authority. Every wolf in the room lowered their heads in submission, but Nia could not look away from him, no matter how hard she tried. It was like his eyes had captured her and refused to let her go.

Marco rushed forward from wherever he had been hiding. He had a fake smile plastered on his face that did not reach his eyes. He bowed his head low in a show of respect, even though everyone could see how much he hated having to submit to anyone. Welcome, Alpha Dne. We are deeply honored to have you visit our humble pack.

I am Alpha Marco, and I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival. We have prepared everything for your visit, and I am confident that we can reach an agreement that will benefit both our packs. Please allow me to show you to my office where we can discuss the contract in detail. >> Dne did not respond to Marco’s greeting. He did not even look at him.

His crimson eyes were still fixed on Nia, who was kneeling on the floor with her dirty rag clutched in her trembling hands. The intensity of his gaze made her skin feel hot and cold at the same time. She wanted to look away, but she could not. She wanted to run away, but her body refused to obey her commands. >> Who is this? >> Dne finally spoke, and his voice was deep and rich, like thunder rolling across distant mountains.

It vibrated through the air and seemed to resonate in Nia’s very bones. She had never heard a voice like that before. It was commanding and powerful and somehow incredibly attractive. Marco’s fake smile faltered for just a moment before he recovered. He grabbed Nia roughly by the arm and yanked her to her feet so hard that she stumbled and nearly fell.

Pain shot through her shoulder, but she was used to pain, so she did not cry out. Nobody important, just a servant, a slave. Actually, she is not worth your attention, Alpha Dne. She was just about to leave and continue her duties elsewhere. He started pushing Nia toward the kitchen door, clearly wanting to get her out of sight as fast as possible.

But before they could take more than two steps, Dne held up his hand. >> Stop. >> The single word held so much power and authority that everyone in the room froze instantly. Marco’s face went pale as snow. His hand tightened on Nia’s arm, hard enough to leave bruises, but he did not dare move another inch.

Dne walked slowly toward them, and each step he took seemed to shake the ground. His eyes never left Nia’s face. When he reached them, he stopped so close that Nia could feel the heat radiating from his powerful body. He towered over her small frame, making her feel tiny and fragile. He smelled incredible like pine trees and rain and something wild and untamed.

Nia kept her eyes fixed on the ground because she knew that looking an alpha in the eyes was forbidden for someone of her low status. She could feel her heart pounding so hard that she was sure everyone in the room could hear it. Her wolf was going crazy inside her, straining and howling and trying to break free from its bonds.

She did not understand why her wolf was reacting this way. It had been silent and dormant for 5 years, and now suddenly, it was more alive than ever. Dne reached out and put one finger under her chin. His touch sent electric sparks shooting through her entire body. Slowly, gently, he lifted her face up until she had no choice but to meet his gaze.

Those crimson eyes stared into hers, and Nia felt like he was looking straight into her soul. She felt exposed and vulnerable and terrified and strangely excited all at the same time. >> “What is your name?” >> he asked softly. >> “Nia,” >> she whispered, and she was shocked that her voice worked at all. Her name came out barely louder than a breath, but Dne heard it perfectly.

Nia,” he repeated slowly, like he was tasting the word on his tongue, like her name was something precious and important. Something shifted in his expression. His crimson eyes seemed to glow brighter for a moment. He leaned closer to her and inhaled deeply near her neck. His nose almost touched her skin, and Nia shivered from the intimacy of the action.

She heard him make a low rumbling sound in his chest that was almost like a growl, but softer. When he pulled back, his eyes were wide with something that looked like shock and wonder and possessiveness all mixed together. “Interesting,” he murmured so quietly that only Nia could hear him. “Very, very interesting.” Marco stepped forward, looking absolutely panicked.

His face had gone from pale to slightly green, like he was about to be sick. Alpha Dne, he said, and his voice cracked with nervousness. We should discuss the contract now. I have prepared everything in my office just as you requested. All the documents are ready for your review. Please let us proceed with our business. Dne straightened up to his full impressive height, but he did not take his eyes off Nia.

Yes, he said slowly, deliberately. We will discuss the contract, but I have some new terms to add. Some very important new terms. He finally turned to look at Marco, and a cold, dangerous smile spread across his handsome face. It was the kind of smile that promised pain and suffering to whoever was on the receiving end. Marco swallowed hard, and his Adam’s apple bobbed visibly in his throat.

“What kind of new terms?” he asked weakly. Dne’s smile grew wider, and his crimson eyes gleamed with a predatory light. “Terms that involve this slave of yours,” he said. “I find myself very interested in her. Very interested indeed.” Marco opened his mouth to protest, but no words came out. He looked like a fish gasping for air.

Nia stood frozen in place, her mind racing with questions and fears and a tiny spark of something she had not felt in 5 years. Hope. Marco led Alpha Dne to his office with shaky legs and sweaty palms. Nia was pushed back toward the kitchen by one of the pack warriors, but she could feel Dne’s eyes on her the entire time. It was like a physical touch that lingered on her skin long after he disappeared down the hallway.

She stood in the kitchen, trembling and confused, trying to understand what had just happened. Why had the most powerful alpha in all the territories looked at her like that? Why had he seemed so interested in a worthless slave covered in dirt and dressed in rags? Why had her wolf suddenly awakened after 5 years of silence? None of it made any sense.

Nia tried to go back to her chores, but her hands were shaking too badly to hold the scrub brush. Her wolf was pacing inside her mind, whimpering and howling and straining against the magical bonds that held it prisoner. “Mate,” her wolf whispered, and the word echoed through Nia’s entire being. “Mate, mate, mate.

” Nia’s eyes went wide with shock and disbelief. No, that was impossible. There was no way that Alpha Dne could be her mate. The moon goddess would never be so cruel as to pair her with such a powerful wolf. She was nothing. She was less than nothing. She was a slave and a murderer and a broken shell of the girl she used to be.

Alpha Dne deserved someone beautiful and strong and worthy of standing by his side, not a pathetic creature like her. Besides, even if he was her mate, he would reject her the moment he learned the truth about what she had done. No alpha would want a mate who had killed her own parents. He would be disgusted by her just like everyone else.

He would throw her away like garbage, and she would be even more broken than before. It was better not to hope. It was better not to dream. Hope and dreams only led to more pain and disappointment. Nia forced herself to pick up the scrub brush and continue cleaning. Even though her whole body was trembling, she needed to forget about Alpha Dne and his crimson eyes and the way her wolf had reacted to him.

She needed to focus on surviving like she always did. But she could not stop thinking about him. His face kept appearing in her mind. His voice kept echoing in her ears. His scent kept filling her nose even though he was nowhere near her. She had never experienced anything like this before. It was terrifying and exhilarating and overwhelming all at once.

Meanwhile, in Marco’s office, the atmosphere was tense and heavy with unspoken threats. Dne sat in the chair across from Marco’s desk, looking completely relaxed and comfortable, like he owned the place. His long legs were stretched out in front of him, and his arms were crossed over his massive chest.

His crimson eyes studied Marco with cold amusement like a cat watching a mouse it was about to eat. Marco sat behind his desk, trying to look confident and in control, but failing miserably. Sweat was dripping down his forehead, and his hands would not stop shaking. He had dealt with many powerful wolves before, but none of them had ever made him feel so small and insignificant.

Alpha Dane’s presence filled the entire room and pressed down on Marco like a mountain sitting on his chest. So Marco said, trying to keep his voice steady. The contract, as we discussed in our letters, you want access to the mountain passage that runs through our territory. In exchange, you will provide us with protection from the rogue attacks that have been plaguing our borders.

I have the documents right here, ready for your signature. He pushed a stack of papers across the desk toward Dne, but the alpha did not even glance at them. He’d tell me about the girl Dne said instead. The one called Nia. Marco’s face twitched with barely concealed anger and hatred.

I told you she is nobody, just a slave, a murderer who killed our parents 5 years ago. She is being punished for her crimes. Dne’s eyes narrowed dangerously. Murderer, he repeated slowly. She does not look like a murderer to me. She looks like someone who has been abused and starved and treated worse than an animal. Marco leaned back in his chair, trying to appear casual.

With all due respect, Alpha Dne, how I discipline members of my pack is my own business. The girl is dangerous. Her wolf abilities had to be bound to protect everyone. She cannot be trusted. Dne was silent for a long moment, just staring at Marco with those unnerving red eyes. Marco felt like the alpha could see right through all his lies and excuses.

He felt exposed and vulnerable and terrified in a way he had never felt before. I want her, Dne finally said. Marco blinked in confusion. What? I want her, Dne, repeated calmly. Add her to the contract. She will come back to the blood moon pack with me when I leave. That is my new term. Marco’s face went through several emotions in rapid succession, shock, disbelief, anger, and then something that looked almost like panic.

He shot to his feet so fast that his chair flew backward and crashed against the wall. “Absolutely not,” he shouted before he could stop himself. “She is mine. She belongs to me. I will never let her go.” Dne did not react to Marco’s outburst. He simply raised one eyebrow and looked at the younger alpha with something like pity mixed with contempt.

She belongs to you, he said softly, but his voice held a dangerous edge. Like property, like an object. Is that how you see her? Marco realized his mistake too late. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. He forced a smile onto his face, even though it looked more like a grimace. I apologize for my outburst, he said, sitting back down in a new chair.

What I meant is that Nia is a criminal who is serving her sentence. Releasing her would be against Packlaw. Surely you understand. Dne stood up slowly, and Marco flinched back instinctively. The alpha walked around the desk until he was standing right next to Marco, looking down at him with cold fury in his crimson eyes.

“Let me make something very clear,” he said, and his voice was like ice. “I am not asking for your permission. I am telling you what is going to happen. The girl will come with me. You will add her to the contract, and if you refuse, I will take her anyway, and I will burn your pathetic little pack to the ground while I am at it.

Do you understand me? Marco’s face had gone completely white. He opened his mouth to argue, but the words died in his throat when he saw the look in Dne’s eyes. This was not a bluff. This was not a negotiation. This was an alpha who was used to getting exactly what he wanted and who would destroy anyone who stood in his way. Marco had heard the stories about Alpha Dne.

He had heard about the packs that had tried to oppose him and had been wiped out completely. He had heard about the wolves who had challenged him and had their throats ripped out before they could even shift. He had thought those stories were exaggerated, but now looking into those crimson eyes, he knew they were all true.

Every single one of them. Why? Marco asked weakly. Why do you want her so badly? She is nothing special. She is just a broken, worthless slave. What could you possibly want with her? Dne smiled, but there was no warmth in it. That is none of your concern, he said. All you need to know is that she is coming with me now.

Get me the contract and add her name to it before I lose my patience. Marco’s hands were shaking so badly that he could barely hold the pen as he wrote Nia’s name into the contract. He felt like he was signing away something precious and important, but he had no choice. Alfaane was too powerful to refuse.

If Marco tried to fight him, the entire Silver Creek Pack would be destroyed. He had to let Nia go. But as he handed the completed contract to Dne, a dark thought crossed his mind. Maybe this was not such a bad thing after all. Maybe Alpha Dne would discover the truth about what Nia really was, and he would punish her even more harshly than Marco ever could.

Maybe the cruel Alpha would make her life even more miserable than it already was. The thought brought a small smile to Marco’s lips. Yes, he decided, “Let Alpha Dne take her. Let him deal with the murderous little monster. It was no less than she deserved.” Back in the kitchen, Nia had no idea that her fate was being decided without her knowledge or consent.

She was still scrubbing the floor and trying to ignore the chaos happening inside her mind. Her wolf would not stop howling and pacing and calling out for its mate. It was driving Nia crazy. She wanted to scream at her wolf to shut up and leave her alone. She wanted to pretend that none of this was happening.

She wanted to go back to the numb, hopeless existence she had grown accustomed to. At least that was predictable. At least she knew what to expect. This new situation was terrifying because it was unknown. What did Alpha Dne want with her? Why had he looked at her like she was something important? What would happen now? The question swirled through her head, making her dizzy and nauseous.

She was so lost in her thoughts that she did not notice the shadow falling over her until it was too late. A rough hand grabbed her hair and yanked her head back painfully. Nia cried out in surprise and pain and found herself looking up into the angry face of her brother’s mate, Victoria. Victoria was a tall, beautiful woman with blonde hair and blue eyes and a heart as cold as winter.

She had never liked Nia even before the accident. After Nia was declared a murderer, Victoria had become one of her crulest tormentors. She seemed to enjoy inflicting pain and humiliation on the fallen. Princess, what did you do? Victoria hissed her perfectly manicured nails digging into Nia’s scalp.

“What did you say to Alpha Dne? Why was he looking at you like that?” “I did not do anything.” Nia gasped, trying to pull away. “I did not say anything. I swear.” Victoria slapped her hard across the face, making stars explode in her vision. “Liar!” she screamed. “You must have done something. You must have used some kind of witchcraft to bewitch him.

There is no other explanation. Nobody would look at a disgusting creature like you unless they were under a spell. Nia tasted blood in her mouth, but she did not fight back. She had learned long ago that fighting back only made things worse. Victoria would eventually get tired of hitting her and leave. She just had to endure it like she endured everything else.

But this time, Victoria was not alone. Several other pack members had gathered around to watch the show. Some of them were laughing and cheering Victoria on. Others were looking at Nia with disgust and hatred. None of them tried to help her. None of them ever tried to help her. Maybe we should teach her a lesson, said one of the warriors, a tall, muscular man with a cruel smile.

Make sure she does not try to seduce any more alphas with her dirty tricks. Victoria smiled viciously. “What a wonderful idea,” she said. “Hold her down.” Two warriors grabbed Nia’s arms and forced her to her knees. She struggled weakly, but she was too malnourished and weak to break free from their iron grips.

Victoria reached down and picked up a bucket of dirty mop water that was sitting nearby. She held it over Nia’s head with a satisfied smirk. Let us see how attractive you are after this,” she said. The warriors laughed and Nia closed her eyes, bracing herself for the humiliation that was about to come. But the dirty water never touched her.

Instead, she heard a sound like thunder and felt a blast of power so strong that it knocked everyone in the room off their feet. Nia’s eyes flew open and she saw Alpha Dne standing in the kitchen doorway. His crimson eyes were glowing like hot coals and his face was twisted with rage.

The air around him was crackling with energy, and his wolf was partially emerged, making his features sharper and more animalistic. He looked like a god of war come to re destruction on his enemies. what Dne said slowly dangerously. Do you think you are doing? Victoria scrambled to her feet, her face pale with terror. Alpha Dne, she stammered.

We were just We were just disciplining the slave. She was being disrespectful, and we silence, Dne roared, and the force of his command made everyone in the room cringe and whimper. His eyes swept over the pack members who had been participating in Nia’s torture. “Every single one of you,” he said in a voice as cold as death, “if any of you ever touch her again, I will personally rip your hearts out and feed them to the crows.

Do I make myself clear?” The wolves nodded frantically, too terrified to speak. Dne walked past them like they were beneath his notice, and stopped in front of Nia. His expression softened slightly as he looked down at her bruised and bleeding face. He reached out and gently helped her to her feet.

His hands were warm and strong and impossibly gentle. “Are you all right?” he asked quietly. Nia stared at him in complete shock. Nobody had treated her with kindness in 5 years. Nobody had defended her or protected her or touched her gently. She did not know how to respond. She did not know what to say.

She just stood there trembling and bleeding and looking up at the powerful alpha who had just saved her from humiliation. I do not understand, she finally whispered. Why did you help me? Why do you care what happens to me? Dne smiled and it was the first genuine smile she had seen from him. It transformed his face from terrifying to breathtakingly handsome.

Because he said, reaching up to wipe a drop of blood from her lip. You are coming with me. I have added you to the contract. You belong to the blood moon pack now. You belong to me. Nia’s eyes went wide with shock. What she breathed. Dne took her hand in his and she felt that electric spark again. You heard me, he said.

Pack your things, little wolf. You are leaving this place today, and you are never coming back. Nia looked around at the kitchen where she had spent countless hours scrubbing and cleaning and suffering. She looked at Victoria, who was cowering in the corner with fear in her eyes. She looked at the warriors who had held her down and were now trembling like leaves in a storm.

And then she looked back at Alpha Dne with his crimson eyes and his gentle smile and his warm hand holding hers. “I do not have any things to pack,” she said quietly. “They took everything from me. Something dark and angry flickered in Danes eyes, but it was not directed at her.” “Then we will get you new things,” he said firmly.

“Everything you need and more. come. He started leading her toward the door, but Marco suddenly appeared blocking their path. His face was red with rage, and his hands were clenched into fists at his sides. “You cannot do this,” he spat. “She is a murderer. She killed our parents. You are making a mistake by taking her.

” Dne stopped and turned to face Marco with cold contempt. The only mistake he said was leaving her in your care for 5 years. But that mistake ends today. Move aside before I move you myself. Marco did not move. He was shaking with fury and humiliation. This was his pack house. This was his territory. How dare this outsider come in and take what belonged to him? How dare he make Marco look weak in front of his own people? I challenge you, Marco shouted.

I challenge you for the right to keep the girl. The entire room went silent. Everyone stared at Marco like he had lost his mind. Challenging Alpha Dne was suicide. Everyone knew that. No one had ever defeated him in combat. No one had even come close. But Marco was too blinded by rage to think clearly.

He had let his hatred for Nia override his common sense. He would rather die than let her escape the punishment she deserved. Dne looked at Marco for a long moment with something like pity in his crimson eyes. Then he sighed and shook his head. “Very well,” he said, releasing Nia’s hand. “If you insist on dying today, I will grant your wish.

” The fight was over, almost before it began. Marco shifted into his wolf form and lunged at Dne with his claws extended and his teeth bared. But Dne did not even bother shifting. He simply stepped to the side, grabbed Marco by the throat, and slammed him into the ground so hard that the floorboards cracked beneath them.

Marco tried to struggle, but Dne’s grip was like iron. No matter how hard he fought, he could not break free. Yield, Dne commanded, his crimson eyes glowing with power. Admit defeat, and I will let you live. You will keep your pack and your title, but you will never come near again. Swear it. Marco had no choice. He was completely outmatched.

He shifted back to his human form and lay there gasping and whimpering like a beaten dog. I yield, he choked out. I swear. Just let me go. Dne released him and stood up, brushing dust from his shirt like nothing had happened. Good, he said. Remember your oath, Alpha Marco. If you break it, I will return and finish what I started today.

He turned back to Nia and held out his hand. His expression was gentle again, like the violence of moments before had never happened. “Come,” he said softly. It is time to go home. Nia looked at his hand for a long moment. She was terrified of what the future might hold. She did not know this alpha or his pack or what he wanted from her.

She did not know if she could trust him or if this was some kind of trick. But she knew one thing for certain. Anything was better than staying here. Anything was better than this hell she had been living in for 5 years. She reached out and took his hand. Dne smiled and led her out of the pack house into the bright sunlight of a new day. Behind them, Nia could hear Victoria screaming at Marco and Marco shouting back at her.

She could hear the whispers of the pack members as they watched her leave. But she did not look back. She kept her eyes forward on the future that awaited her, whatever that future might be. A sleek black car was waiting outside the pack house with two massive warriors standing guard beside it. They were even bigger than Alpha Dne which Nia had not thought possible.

Their eyes were sharp and alert and they bowed their heads respectfully when Dne approached. Alfa the first warrior said, “Everything is ready for departure. We can leave whenever you wish.” Good. Dne replied, “We leave now.” He opened the back door of the car and gestured for Nia to get inside. She hesitated for a moment, staring at the luxurious leather interior with wide eyes.

She had not been inside a car in 5 years. She had not been allowed to go anywhere outside the pack house grounds. The simple act of sitting in a vehicle felt strange and surreal, like something from a dream. Dne seemed to sense her hesitation. He placed a gentle hand on her lower back and guided her forward. “It is all right,” he said softly.

“You’re safe now. No one will hurt you anymore. I promise.” Nia climbed into the car and sank into the soft leather seat. It was the most comfortable thing she had felt in years. The leather was warm and smooth against her skin, and the car smelled like expensive cologne and new leather. Dne slid in beside her and closed the door.

The two warriors got into the front seats and the car started moving down the long driveway away from the Silver Creek pack house. Nia turned and looked out the back window, watching the only home she had ever known grow smaller and smaller in the distance. She should have felt sad or scared or uncertain, but all she felt was relief. pure overwhelming relief that made tears spring to her eyes.

She was finally free. After 5 years of torture and humiliation and despair, she was finally leaving that terrible place behind. She did not know what awaited her at the blood moon pack, but it could not possibly be worse than what she had endured. Nothing could be worse than that. A warm hand covered hers and she turned to find Dne watching her with concern in his crimson eyes.

“You are crying,” he said gently. “Are you all right? Do you want to go back?” “No,” Nia said quickly, wiping her tears with her free hand. “No, I do not want to go back. I never want to go back. These are not sad tears. I am just. I cannot believe this is real. I cannot believe I am actually leaving. Dne squeezed her hand reassuringly.

It is real, he said. And you are never going back there. I will make sure of it. Nia looked down at their joined hands and felt that electric tingle again. Her wolf was purring contentedly inside her mind, completely calm for the first time since it had awakened. It was like her wolf knew something she did not.

Like it understood what was happening even though Nia was still confused and uncertain. Why? She asked quietly, “Why did you do this? Why did you add me to the contract? Why did you save me from Victoria? I am nobody. I am nothing. A worthless slave and a murderer. Why would someone like you want anything to do with someone like me?” Dne was quiet for a long moment.

He stared out the window at the passing trees and Nia thought maybe he was not going to answer. But then he turned back to her and his crimson eyes were intense and serious. I do not believe you are a murderer. He said, “I saw the way your brother looked at you. I saw the hatred in his eyes. That kind of hatred does not come from grief over lost parents.

That kind of hatred comes from something else, something darker. I think there is more to your story than what you have been told. And I intend to find out the truth. Nia’s heart skipped a beat. No one had ever believed her before. No one had ever questioned Marco’s version of events. Everyone had just accepted that she was a killer and treated her accordingly.

But this stranger, this powerful alpha she had just met, was looking at her like he could see the truth she had been hiding for 5 years. “What if I really am a murderer?” she whispered. “What if I really did kill my parents?” “Would you still want me then?” Dne reached up and cupped her face in his large, warm hand.

His thumb stroked gently across her cheekbone, and Nia shivered at the tender touch. Yes, he said simply. Even then, I would still want you. I told you, Nia. You belong to me now. Nothing will change that. Not your past, not your mistakes, not anything. Nia did not understand. She could not comprehend why this powerful alpha was being so kind to her.

What had she done to deserve this? What was he getting out of helping her? There had to be a catch. There had to be something he wanted in return. Nothing in life was free. She had learned that lesson the hard way. What do you want from me? She asked suspiciously. What do you expect me to do in return for all this? Be your slave. Warm your bed.

Clean your pack house like I cleaned. Marcos, I need to know what I am agreeing to. Dne’s expression flickered with something that looked like pain. He pulled his hand back and Nia immediately missed his warmth. “I want nothing from you,” he said, and his voice was tight with controlled emotion. “I expect nothing from you.

You will not be a slave at the blood moon pack. You will not clean or cook or serve anyone. You will be treated with respect and dignity like every other member of my pack. All I ask is that you give yourself time to heal, to rest, to remember who you were before your brother destroyed you. Can you do that? Nia stared at him in disbelief.

That is all she asked. You just want me to rest and heal. You are not going to make me work. You are not going to punish me for my crimes. That is all Dne confirmed. For now, that is all I ask. Nia did not know what to say. She did not know how to respond to kindness anymore.

It felt foreign and strange and almost frightening. She had grown so used to cruelty that gentleness made her uncomfortable. But her wolf was practically dancing with joy inside her mind. “Mate, her wolf,” whispered again. Our mate is good. Our mate is kind. We are safe with our mate. Nia still did not fully believe that Dne was her mate.

The bond felt strange and incomplete, probably because her wolf abilities were still bound. She could not feel the full connection that mates were supposed to share. She could only feel hints and glimpses of something powerful lurking beneath the surface. But even those hints were enough to make her heart race and her skin tingle whenever Dne touched her.

“Thank you,” she finally said softly. “I do not know why you are helping me, but thank you. I will try to do what you ask. I will try to heal.” Dne smiled, and it made his harsh features soften into something almost beautiful. “That is all I ask, little wolf,” he said. Just try. The rest of the drive passed in comfortable silence.

Nia found herself drifting off to sleep, lulled by the gentle motion of the car and the warmth of Dne’s presence beside her. She had not slept well in years. The thin mat in her basement room and the constant fear of Marco’s punishments had made rest nearly impossible. But here in this car, with Dne’s hand still holding hers, she felt safe for the first time in forever.

She did not even realize she had fallen asleep until Dne gently shook her awake. “Nia,” he said softly. “We are here. Wake up.” Nia opened her eyes and looked out the window, her breath caught in her throat at what she saw. The blood moon pack house was enormous. It was more like a mansion or a castle than a house.

It had tall stone walls and massive windows and towers that reached up toward the sky. The grounds around it were perfectly manicured with green lawns and colorful flower gardens and ancient trees that provided shade and beauty. There were wolves everywhere going about their daily business. Some were in human form walking and talking and laughing.

Others were in wolf form, running and playing and hunting in the forests that surrounded the property. Everyone looked healthy and happy and well cared for. It was nothing like the Silver Creek Pack where everyone had been tense and afraid and miserable. This is your home, Nia whispered in awe. This is your pack. Dne smiled proudly.

Yes, he said. This is the blood moon pack, and now it is your home, too. Welcome, Nia. I hope you will be happy here. The car stopped in front of the main entrance and the warriors opened the doors for them. Dne got out first and then turned to help Nia. She took his hand and stepped out of the car on shaky legs.

Her worn, dirty clothes and tangled hair made her feel completely out of place in this beautiful, pristine environment. Everyone was going to stare at her. Everyone was going to judge her. Everyone was going to know she did not belong here. As if reading her thoughts, Dne squeezed her hand reassuringly. “Do not worry,” he said.

“No one here will judge you. They know better than to disrespect anyone I bring home. And we will get you cleaned up and properly dressed before you meet anyone important. I promise.” He led her up the stone steps and through the massive front doors into the pack house. The interior was even more impressive than the exterior.

The floors were made of polished marble that gleamed in the light streaming through the tall windows. The walls were decorated with beautiful paintings and tapestries depicting wolves and forests and moons. Crystal chandeliers hung from the high ceilings, casting rainbow patterns across every surface. It was the most luxurious place Nia had ever seen.

She felt like a dirty peasant who had stumbled into a palace by mistake. Luna Dayne called out and his voice echoed through the grand entrance hall. Please come here. I need your assistance. Nia’s heart dropped into her stomach. Luna. Dne had a Luna. Of course he did. A powerful alpha like him would obviously have a mate already.

A beautiful, strong, worthy mate who ruled by his side. Nia had been foolish to think that the connection she felt meant anything. She was probably just imagining it because she was desperate for someone to care about her. A woman appeared at the top of the grand staircase, and began descending gracefully. She was older than Nia, probably in her 50s, but still beautiful, with silver streaked hair and kind brown eyes.

She moved with the elegance of someone who had been royalty her whole life. When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she smiled warmly at Dne and then turned her curious gaze to Nia. Welcome home, my son,” she said, and her voice was soft and melodic. “And who is this lovely young woman you have brought with you, son?” Nia blinked in confusion.

This woman was Dne’s mother, not his mate. Relief flooded through her so quickly that she felt dizzy. She did not understand why she cared so much, but she could not deny the happiness that bubbled up inside her at learning Dne did not have a mate. This is Nia Dne said, placing a protective hand on Nia’s lower back. She will be staying with us from now on.

She needs rest and care and kindness. I was hoping you could help her get settled. Luna Dne’s mother studied Nia with sharp, observant eyes that seemed to see everything. She took in Nia’s torn, dirty clothes and her matted hair and her bruised face. She saw the fear and uncertainty in Nia’s eyes, and her expression shifted from curiosity to fierce maternal protectiveness.

“Of course,” she said immediately, “come with me, dear. We will get you a hot bath and clean clothes and a good meal. You look like you have not eaten properly in months.” She held out her hand, and Nia instinctively reached for it. The Luna’s hand was warm and soft and comforting. It reminded Nia of her own mother, and tears pricricked at her eyes again.

“Thank you,” Nia whispered. “You are very kind.” “Nonsense,” the Luna said, leading her toward the staircase. “This is simply basic decency, something you have clearly been denied for far too long. But do not worry, child. You are safe here. No one will hurt you in my home.” She led Nia up the stairs and down a long hallway lined with doors.

They stopped in front of a door near the end, and the Luna pushed it open to reveal the most beautiful bedroom Nia had ever seen. The walls were painted a soft blue like the sky on a clear day. The bed was enormous and covered with fluffy white pillows and a thick comforter that looked like a cloud. There was a fireplace with a crackling fire that filled the room with warmth.

There were bookshelves filled with books and a comfortable chair for reading. There was a vanity with a mirror and brushes and all sorts of beauty products. And there was a door that led to a private bathroom with a huge bathtub that could fit three people. This will be your room, the Luna said. I know it is not much, but we can decorate it however you like once you are feeling better.

Not much, Nia repeated in disbelief. This is not much. This room is bigger than the entire basement I lived in. It is the most beautiful room I have ever seen. The Luna’s expression tightened with barely controlled anger. She took a deep breath and forced a smile onto her face. “Well,” she said, “now it is yours. Make yourself at home.

I will have the servants draw you a bath and bring you fresh clothes. Is there anything special you would like to eat? I can have the kitchen prepare whatever you want. Nia was overwhelmed. She could not process all of this kindness and generosity. It was too much too fast. She felt like she was going to break down and cry and never stop.

Anything Nia said weakly, “Anything is fine. I am not picky. I am used to eating scraps and leftovers. Whatever the kitchen has is more than enough. The Luna’s eyes filled with tears, but she blinked them back quickly. “You will never eat scraps again,” she said firmly. “Not while you are under my roof. Now rest, child. Take a bath.

Eat, sleep, and when you are ready, my son will answer all the questions I can see swirling in your eyes.” She kissed Nia gently on the forehead and left the room, closing the door softly behind her. Nia stood in the middle of her new bedroom, completely frozen. She looked around at the beautiful furniture and the soft bed and the crackling fire.

She listened to the silence that was so different from the constant noise and chaos of the Silver Creek pack house. And then she walked slowly to the bed and sat down on the edge. The mattress was so soft that she sank into it like it was made of clouds. She ran her hands over the smooth, clean sheets and the fluffy pillows.

And then finally, she let herself cry. She cried for everything she had lost 5 years ago. She cried for the parents she would never see again. She cried for the girl she used to be before Marco destroyed her. She cried for all the pain and suffering and loneliness she had endured. and she cried with relief and gratitude that somehow against all odds she had been given a second chance.

Nia did not know how long she cried, but eventually the tears stopped and exhaustion took over. She was too tired to take a bath or eat or do anything else. She simply curled up on the soft bed, wrapped herself in the warm comforter, and let sleep claim her. For the first time in 5 years, she did not have nightmares.

She did not dream of fire and screaming and her brother’s hateful eyes. Instead, she dreamed of crimson eyes looking at her with tenderness and warmth. She dreamed of a deep voice promising to keep her safe. She dreamed of hope. Meanwhile, downstairs in his study, Dne was pacing back and forth like a caged animal.

His mother sat in a chair watching him with knowing eyes and a small smile playing on her lips. She is my mate. Dne saw running his hands through his dark hair in frustration. The moment I saw her, I knew my wolf went crazy. I could barely control myself. I wanted to shift right there and rip apart everyone who had ever hurt her. I know, the Luna said calmly.

I could tell the moment I saw her. The way you look at her, the way you touch her, the way you positioned yourself between her and every potential threat. It was obvious. Dne stopped pacing and turned to face his mother. Her wolf is bound. He said, “She cannot feel the mate bond properly. She does not know what I am to her.

She thinks I am just being kind for some unknown reason. She is suspicious and confused and scared. What am I supposed to do? Tell her the truth, the Luna suggested. Be honest with her about the mate bond. I cannot, Dne said, shaking his head. She is too fragile right now. If I tell her she is my mate, she might think I have ulterior motives.

She might think I only saved her because I want something from her. She needs time to heal and trust me before I reveal the truth. The Luna nodded thoughtfully. “That is wise,” she admitted. “But you cannot hide it forever. The bond will only grow stronger. Eventually, she will figure it out on her own.” “I know,” Dne said. “I just need time.

I need her to see that I am trustworthy, that I genuinely care about her well-being, and I need to find out the truth about what really happened to her parents. I do not believe for a second that she is a murderer. You think her brother lied? The Luna asked. I think her brother is a cruel, sadistic monster who enjoyed torturing his own sister.

Dne growled, and his eyes flashed crimson with barely contained rage. I think he blamed her for something that was not her fault, so he could take power and make her suffer. I think he bound her wolf and made her his slave because he is a twisted evil man who deserves to die slowly and painfully. But I swore an oath not to harm him so I cannot go back and rip his throat out like I want to.

The Luna stood and walked over to her son. She placed her hands on his face and forced him to look at her. “You did the right thing,” she said gently. “You got her out. You saved her. That is what matters. Now focus on helping her heal. The truth about her past will come out eventually. These things always do. Dne took a deep breath and let his mother’s calm presence soothe his raging wolf. You’re right, he said.

I need to be patient. I need to focus on Nia. Everything else can wait. The Luna smiled and patted his cheek. That is my boy, she said. Now go check on your mate. Make sure she has everything she needs and try not to scare her with your intense alpha staring. You can be quite intimidating when you do not mean to be. Dne almost smiled. I will try, he said.

Thank you, mother. Always my son, the Luna replied. Now go. Your mate needs you. Dne left his study and climbed the stairs to the guest wing where he had asked his mother to put near. He stopped outside her door and listened carefully. He could hear her heartbeat slow and steady with sleep.

He could hear her breathing soft and even. She was resting peacefully for what was probably the first time in years. He wanted to go inside and watch over her while she slept. He wanted to climb into that bed beside her and hold her in his arms and protect her from the nightmares that probably plagued her dreams.

But he knew that would be inappropriate and probably terrifying for her. She barely knew him. She had no reason to trust him yet. He needed to give her space and time and let her come to him when she was ready. So instead, he simply stood outside her door, keeping silent watch over his sleeping mate.

He would stay there all night if he had to. He would protect her from anyone and anything that tried to hurt her because she was his, his mate, his other half, his reason for existing, and he would burn the whole world down before he let anyone harm her again. Nia woke up slowly, feeling more rested than she had in years.

For a moment, she forgot where she was, and panic seized her chest. She was supposed to be awake before dawn. She was supposed to be scrubbing floors and preparing breakfast. Marco would be furious. He would beat her until she could not stand. He would starve her for days as punishment for sleeping late. She bolted upright in bed, her heart pounding and her breath coming in short gasps.

But then she looked around and saw the beautiful blue walls and the soft white bedding and the crackling fireplace. She remembered everything. Alpha Dane, the contract, leaving Silver Creek, coming to the Blood Moon Pack. It was not a dream. It was real. She was actually free. Nia let out a shaky breath and pressed her hand against her racing heart.

She needed to calm down. She was safe. No one was going to hurt her here. The Luna had promised. Dne had promised. She just needed to believe them. A soft knock on the door made her jump. She pulled the covers up to her chin, even though she was still fully dressed in her dirty rags. “Come in,” she called hesitantly.

The door opened, and a young woman entered, carrying a tray loaded with food. She had bright red hair and freckles and a friendly smile that made her whole face light up. She looked to be about Nia’s age, maybe a year or two younger. Good morning, she said cheerfully. I am Rosie. The Luna asked me to bring you breakfast and help you get settled.

I hope you are hungry because the kitchen went a little overboard when they heard we had a guest. Nia stared at the tray of food with wide eyes. There was more food on that single tray than she usually ate in a week. fluffy scrambled eggs and crispy bacon and golden toast with butter and jam, fresh fruit and pastries, and a tall glass of orange juice and a steaming cup of tea.

Her stomach growled loudly and she felt her face flush with embarrassment. Rosie just laughed kindly. “Sounds like you are definitely hungry,” she said, setting the tray on the bed in front of Nia. “Eat as much as you want. There is plenty more where that came from, and do not worry about being polite or proper. Just dig in. Nia did not need to be told twice.

She grabbed a piece of toast and took a huge bite. The butter melted on her tongue, and the jam was sweet and fruity and absolutely delicious. She moaned with pleasure, and Rosie grinned. “Good right,” she said. Our head cook is the best in all the territories. Everyone says so. Wait until you try her chocolate cake.

You will think you died and went to heaven. Nia ate and ate until her stomach was pleasantly full for the first time in years. She even had seconds of the eggs and thirds of the bacon. Rosie chatted happily the whole time, telling her about the pack and the territory and all the different wolves who lived there. She did not ask any questions about Nia’s past or where she came from.

She just talked about light, easy things that made Nia feel comfortable and relaxed. When Nia finally pushed the tray away with a satisfied sigh, Rosie clapped her hands together. “Perfect,” she said. “Now, let us get you cleaned up.” The Luna had the servants fill the bath earlier this morning. The water should still be warm. She walked to the bathroom door and pushed it open, revealing steam rising from the enormous tub.

Rose petals floated on the surface of the water, and the whole room smelled like lavender and honey. It was the most inviting thing Nia had ever seen. I will give you privacy, Rosie said. Take as long as you need. There are fresh clothes laid out on the counter for when you are done. They might be a little big, but we can get you properly fitted later.

Just come downstairs when you’re ready. I will be waiting to give you a tour of the pack house. Thank you, Nia said softly. You’re very kind. Ros’s smile faltered for just a moment, and something like sadness flickered in her eyes. You do not need to thank me, she said quietly. This is just basic kindness, something everyone deserves.

I am sorry you have not had much of it in your life. But that is going to change now. I promise. She left the room before Nia could respond, closing the door gently behind her. Nia stood still for a moment, processing Ros’s words. Then she walked into the bathroom and slowly peeled off her dirty rags.

She caught sight of herself in the large mirror and froze. She had not looked at her reflection in years. Marco had forbidden mirrors in her basement room, saying a monster like her did not deserve to see herself. But now she could see everything, every scar, every bruise, every bone that jutted out from her malnourished body. She was thin, so thin that she could count her ribs.

Her collarbones stuck out sharply, and her arms were like sticks. Her legs were covered in scars from beatings and her back had long white lines from where Marco had whipped her. Her face was gaunt and hollow with dark circles under her eyes that looked like bruises. Her hair was tangled and matted and had not been properly washed in months.

She looked like a skeleton wrapped in pale skin. She looked like death. Tears streamed down Nia’s face as she stared at her reflection. Is this what Dne saw when he looked at her? Is this what made him want to save her? Did he feel pity for the broken, pathetic creature standing before him? Is that why he was being so kind? Not because of any mate bond, but simply because he felt sorry for her.

The thought made her stomach twist with shame and humiliation. She did not want Dne’s pity. She did not want anyone’s pity. She wanted to be strong and beautiful and worthy. She wanted to be the girl she used to be before everything fell apart. But that girl was dead. Marco had killed her just as surely as if he had plunged a knife into her heart.

Nia turned away from the mirror and climbed into the bathtub. The warm water enveloped her like a hug, and she let out a sob of relief. She sank down until only her head was above the surface and let the heat seep into her aching bones. It felt so good, so incredibly, amazingly good. She could not remember the last time she had a proper bath.

Marco only allowed her to wash with cold water from a bucket once a week. She had forgotten what warmth felt like. She had forgotten what comfort felt like. Nia stayed in the tub for a long time. She washed her hair three times until all the tangles came out and it was soft and clean and shiny again.

She scrubbed her skin until years of dirt and grime washed away. She soaked until the water turned cold and her fingers were wrinkled like prunes. And then she finally got out and dried herself with the softest towel she had ever touched. The clothes Rosie had left simple but beautiful. A soft gray sweater that was warm and cozy.

Black pants that were a little loose but stayed up with the belt provided. Thick wool socks that made her feet feel like they were wrapped in clouds. And underneath everything, clean undergarments that fit perfectly. Nia had not worn proper clothes in 5 years. She had only had rags that barely covered her body and provided no protection from the cold.

Wearing real clothes again made her feel almost human, almost normal, almost like a person instead of a slave. She brushed her hair until it was smooth and shiny and fell in soft waves past her shoulders. She looked at herself in the mirror again and was shocked by the difference. She still looked thin and tired and broken, but she also looked cleaner, more presentable, like maybe she could pass for a regular person if no one looked too closely.

Taking a deep breath, Nia left her room and headed downstairs. She got lost twice in the massive pack house, but eventually found her way to the entrance hall where Rosie was waiting just like she promised. The red-haired girl’s face lit up when she saw Nia. Oh, you look so much better, she exclaimed, clapping her hands together.

I knew that sweater would look good on you. The color brings out your eyes. How do you feel? Better, Nia admitted. The bath was wonderful. I cannot thank you enough. Rosie waved her hand dismissively. Stop thanking me, she said. You are going to make me blush now. Come on. I have so much to show you. This pack house is huge and you need to know where everything is.

She grabbed Nia’s hand and started pulling her through the corridors, chattering happily the whole time. This is the main living room where everyone hangs out in the evenings. That is the library which has over 10,000 books as if you like reading. Down that hallway is the kitchen and the dining hall where we eat most meals.

Out those doors is the training grounds where the warriors practice. And up those stairs is the family wing where Alpha Dne and the Luna have their rooms. Nia tried to remember everything, but it was overwhelming. The pack house was massive with dozens of rooms and hallways and staircases. It would take her weeks to learn her way around, but she did not mind.

It was a good kind of overwhelming, the kind that came from having too much instead of too little. They were walking through a long hallway filled with portraits when Nia suddenly stopped. One of the paintings had caught her eye. It showed a beautiful woman with dark hair and kind eyes standing next to a tall, handsome man with strong features.

They were both smiling and looked deeply in love. But it was not the couple that made Nia freeze. It was the young boy standing between them. He had messy dark hair and crimson eyes that sparkled with mischief. He looked about 8 years old, and he was grinning at the painter like he knew a secret no one else did. It was Dne.

Nia could tell even though he was just a child in the portrait. Those eyes were unmistakable. “That is Alpha Dne with his parents,” Rosie said, following Nia’s gaze. “It was painted about 20 years ago, right before his father died.” “Nia turned to look at Rosie with surprise.” “His father is dead,” she asked. “I thought the woman I met yesterday was the Luna.

She is Rosie confirmed. Luna Helina has been running the pack since her mate passed away. Alpha Dne was only 10 years old when it happened, so he was too young to take over. His mother ruled as regent until he came of age at 18. She is technically retired now, but everyone still calls her Luna out of respect.

“What happened to his father?” Nia asked quietly. Ros’s expression grew somber. “He was killed,” she said. murdered by a rival pack during a border dispute. Alpha Dane watched the whole thing. He was with his father when the attack happened. He tried to fight back, but he was just a child.

There was nothing he could do. Nia’s heart achd with sympathy. She knew what it was like to lose parents. She knew the pain and grief that never fully went away. Knowing that Dne had experienced something similar made her feel connected to him in a way she had not expected. After that, Rosie continued. Dne changed.

He became obsessed with getting stronger. He trained day and night until he was the most powerful wolf in the territories. When he turned 18, he challenged the alpha who had killed his father and defeated him in single combat. He took over the rival pack and merged it with ours, making the blood moon pack the largest and most powerful in all the land.

Everyone fears him because of what he did, because of what he is capable of. But those of us who know him understand that he is not cruel or evil. He is just determined to protect the people he loves. He never wants to feel helpless again like he did when his father died. Nia looked back at the portrait at the happy, smiling boy, who had no idea his world was about to shatter.

She understood him. She understood him in a way that few people probably could. They had both lost their parents. They had both been broken by tragedy. They had both rebuilt themselves from the ashes of their old lives. But Dne had become strong and powerful and feared. Nia had become weak and broken and pitiful.

The difference between them was vast and painful. “Come on,” Rosie said gently, tugging Nia’s hand. “There is more to see.” They continued the tour, and Nia tried to focus on what Rosie was showing her, but her mind kept drifting back to Dne, to his crimson eyes and his gentle touch and his promise to keep her safe.

She wanted to trust him. She wanted to believe that he was as good as he seemed. But years of abuse had made her suspicious and wary. She kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, for the kindness to turn into cruelty, for the safety to become a trap. She hoped she was wrong. She hoped with every fiber of her being that Dne was exactly who he appeared to be.

But she had been disappointed so many times before. She did not know if her heart could survive being broken again. The tour ended in the garden behind the pack house. It was a beautiful space filled with flowers and fountains and winding stone paths. There were benches tucked into quiet corners and trees that provided shade from the afternoon sun.

Birds sang in the branches and butterflies danced among the blossoms. It was peaceful and serene and utterly perfect. This is my favorite place, Rosie said, sitting down on a bench and patting the spot beside her. I come here whenever I need to think or just be alone for a while. It is usually empty during the day because everyone is busy with training or work.

Nia sat down and breathed in the sweet scent of the flowers. “Can I ask you something?” she said hesitantly. “Of course,” Rosie replied. anything. Why is everyone being so nice to me? Nia asked. You do not know me. You do not know what I have done. Why are you treating me like I belong here when I am just a stranger? Rosie was quiet for a moment considering her answer.

Because Alpha Dane asked us to, she finally said, “And because it is the right thing to do. I do not know your story, Nia. I do not know where you came from or what happened to you. But I can see the pain in your eyes. I can see the scars on your soul. Even if I cannot see the ones on your body. Someone hurt you badly. Someone broke you.

And no one deserves that. No matter what they have done. Nia felt tears prick at her eyes. What if I told you I killed my parents? She whispered. What if I told you I am a murderer? Would you still be kind to me then? Rosie turned to look at her with steady, serious eyes. “Did you mean to do it?” she asked.

“No, Nia,” said, and her voice cracked. “It was an accident. I never meant to hurt them. I loved them so much. I would have done anything to save them.” “Then you are not a murderer,” Rosie said firmly. “A murderer is someone who kills with intent, someone who chooses to take a life. An accident is just that, an accident, a tragedy, something terrible that happened even though you did not want it to. You are not evil, Nia.

You are just unlucky, and being unlucky is not a crime.” Nia stared at Rosie as tears streamed down her face. No one had ever said that to her before. No one had ever drawn that distinction between accident and murder. Everyone had just assumed she was a killer and treated her accordingly. But Rosie was right.

There was a difference. A huge important difference. “I spent 5 years being punished,” Nia said, her voice barely above a whisper. “My brother bound my wolf and made me his slave. He beat me and starved me and humiliated me every single day. He told everyone I was a monster. He made them believe I killed our parents on purpose.

And I started to believe it, too. I started to think I deserved everything he did to me. “You did not deserve any of it,” Rosie said firmly. “None of it. Your brother is the monster, not you.” Nia broke down sobbing, and Rosie pulled her into a tight hug. She held Nia while she cried, stroking her hair and murmuring soothing words. She did not try to make her stop.

She did not tell her to calm down or be strong. She just let her cry and cry until there were no more tears left. When Nia finally pulled back, her eyes were red and puffy, but she felt lighter somehow, like some of the weight she had been carrying for 5 years had finally been lifted. “Thank you,” she said horarssely.

“I needed that.” Rosie smiled and wiped a tear from Nia’s cheek. Anytime, she said. That is what friends are for. Friends, Nia repeated the word, feeling foreign on her tongue. We are friends if you want to be, Rosie said. I know we just met, but I feel like we are going to be close. Call it a gut feeling. I would like that, Nia said softly.

I have not had a friend in a very long time. Then it is settled. Rosie declared, “We are officially friends. Best friends even, which means I get to boss you around and give you unsolicited advice and drag you to pack events even when you do not want to go.” Nia laughed. It was a rusty sound like a door that had not been opened in years, but it was real. A real laugh.

The first one she had made in 5 years. Ros’s face lit up like the sun. There it is, she said triumphantly. I knew you had a pretty laugh hiding in there somewhere. We just needed to find it. Nia smiled. It was a small smile, a hesitant smile. But it was a start. Maybe things really would be different here.

Maybe she really could heal and move on and build a new life. Maybe the moon goddess had not abandoned her after all. A deep voice interrupted her thoughts. I see you have met Rosie. Nia looked up and saw Dne walking toward them across the garden. He was wearing a simple black shirt and dark jeans, but he still managed to look like a god among mortals.

His crimson eyes were fixed on her face, and his expression was soft and warm. She felt her heart skip a beat, and her wolf stirred inside her mind. Mater, her wolf whispered happily, our mate is here. Nia pushed the thought away, but she could not deny the way her body reacted to his presence, the way her skin tingled and her pulse raced and her breath came a little faster.

Whether he was her mate or not, there was definitely something between them, something powerful and undeniable. Alfa Rosie said, jumping to her feet and bowing her head respectfully. I was just showing Nia around like you asked. We were taking a break in the garden. Is there something you need? No, Dne said, his eyes never leaving Nia’s face.

I just wanted to check on our guest. Make sure she has everything she needs. I am fine, Nia said, standing up on shaky legs. Rosie has been very kind. Everyone has been very kind. I do not know how to repay you for all of this. You do not need to repay me, Dne said, stepping closer until he was right in front of her.

I told you before, I expect nothing from you. I just want you to be happy and healthy. That is all. Wine asked for what felt like the hundth time. Why do you care so much about a stranger? What am I to you? Dne was silent for a long moment. His crimson eyes searched her face like he was looking for something. Then he reached out and took her hand in his.

His touch sent electricity shooting up her arm, and her wolf howled with joy. You are not a stranger, he said quietly. You are important, more important than you know. And one day when you are ready, I will tell you exactly what you are to me. But for now, just trust me. Can you do that? Nia looked into his eyes and saw nothing but sincerity and warmth.

She did not understand why he cared about her. She did not understand what she meant to him. But she wanted to find out. She wanted to trust him. She wanted to believe that good things could happen to her again. “I can try,” she said softly. Dne smiled and it was like the sun breaking through storm clouds.

“That is all I ask,” he said. “Just try.” 3 weeks passed and Nia slowly began to heal. She ate three meals a day and her body started filling out again. Her cheeks grew rounder and her arms grew stronger and her bones no longer jutted out so painfully. The dark circles under her eyes faded as she slept peacefully night after night.

She spent her days exploring the pack house and the grounds with Rosie by her side. She read books in the library and walked through the gardens and even watched the warriors train from a safe distance. She was starting to feel almost normal, almost whole, almost like a real person again. But the best part of her new life was Dne.

He made time for her every single day, no matter how busy he was, with pack business. They would walk through the forest together or sit in the garden talking for hours or share meals in his private dining room. He told her about his childhood and his father’s death and how he had rebuilt himself from the broken boy who watched his parent die.

She told him about her parents and the accident and the 5 years of torture she had endured at Marco’s hands. He listened without judgment and held her when she cried and promised over and over that she was safe now. Nia felt herself falling for him more each day. Her wolf was constantly purring and whispering mate whenever he was near.

The pull between them grew stronger with every passing moment. She knew now that he was her mate. She could feel the bond even through her bound wolf. It was like a golden thread connecting her heart to his. But she was afraid to say anything. She was afraid he would reject her once he learned the full truth about what she had done.

She was afraid this beautiful dream would shatter and she would wake up back in her basement prison. One evening, Dne asked her to meet him in his study after dinner. His expression was serious and Nia felt a flutter of nervousness in her stomach. She walked through the pack house with shaking legs and knocked on his door with trembling hands.

“Come in,” Dne called. She entered and found him standing by the window looking out at the moonlit grounds. He turned when she came in and his crimson eyes were blazing with intensity. Close the door, he said quietly. Nia obeyed and then stood awkwardly in the middle of the room. “Did I do something wrong?” she asked.

“No,” Dne said quickly, crossing the room to take her hands in his. “No, you did nothing wrong. I just need to tell you something. Something important. Something I should have told you from the beginning. Nia’s heart was pounding so hard she could hear it in her ears. “What is it?” she whispered. Dne took a deep breath and looked into her eyes.

“You are my mate near,” he said. “I knew the moment I saw you. My wolf recognized you immediately. That is why I saved you. That is why I brought you here. That is why I care about you so much. You are my other half, my soulmate, the one person the moon goddess created just for me. Nia stared at him in shock, even though part of her had known all along.

Hearing him say it out loud made it real in a way it had not been before. She was his mate. Alpha Dne, the most powerful wolf in all the territories, had chosen her. A broken, abused slave with bound abilities and a dark past. Why? She asked, and her voice cracked. Why would the moon goddess pair you with someone like me? You deserve so much better.

You deserve someone strong and beautiful and whole, not a damaged creature who cannot even shift. Dne cupped her face in his hands and made her look at him. “You are strong,” he said fiercely. You survived 5 years of torture and abuse and you did not break. You are still standing. You are still fighting. That takes more strength than anything I have ever done.

And you are beautiful. So beautiful that my heart stops every time I look at you and you will be whole again. I promise you. I will find a way to unbind your wolf and give you back everything that was taken from you. Tears streamed down Nia’s face. She wanted to believe him. She wanted to accept the bond and let herself love him.

But there was one more thing she had to tell him. One more secret she had been keeping. What if I told you? Nia whispered that I did not kill my parents by accident. What if I told you I was set up? Dne’s eyes widened. What do you mean? He asked. Nia took a shaky breath. I have been having dreams since I came here, she said.

Memories that were blocked are coming back. I remember the night of the fire now. I remember everything. I did not start that fire, Dne. My wolf abilities did not cause it. Someone else was there. Someone who wanted my parents dead and wanted me to take the blame. Who? Dne demanded and his voice was like thunder. Marco Nia whispered, “My brother, he was there that night.

He set the fire himself. I saw him through the smoke, but the memory was buried so deep I could not access it. He killed our parents and blamed me so he could become alpha. He bound my wolf so I could never access the memories of what really happened. He made me believe I was a murderer for 5 years when he was the real killer all along.

” Dne’s entire body was shaking with rage. His eyes were glowing crimson and his claws were extending from his fingertips. The air around him crackled with power so intense that Nia stumbled backward. I will kill him. I will tear him apart piece by piece. I will make him suffer for every moment of pain he caused you. I will burn his pack to the ground and scatter his ashes to the wind.

He swore an oath. He swore never to come near you again. But he lied from the beginning. He lied about everything. The oath is void. HIS LIFE IS FORFEIT. >> WAIT, Nia said, grabbing his arm. >> I do not want you to start a war because of me. I do not want anyone else to die. >> Too late. The war has already begun. Nia and Dne spun around to see Marco standing in the doorway with a dozen warriors behind him.

His face was twisted with hatred and madness. His eyes were wild and bloodshot like he had not slept in days. He was holding a knife that glinted silver in the candlelight. Did you really think I would let you take her? Did you really think I would let her escape her punishment? She belongs to me.

She has always belonged to me and if I cannot have her then no one will. >> Dne stepped in front of Nia shielding her with his body. You should not have come here. >> He said you should have stayed in your territory and lived out the rest of your miserable life. Now you have signed your own death warrant. >> Marco laughed, but it was an ugly, desperate sound.

>> You think you can stop me? You think you can protect her? I have been planning this for weeks. My warriors have surrounded your pack house. Your guards are dead. Your mother is being held hostage as we speak. Surrender near to me now or everyone you love will die. Nia’s blood ran cold.

Luna Helena, the kind woman who had welcomed her with open arms and treated her like a daughter. She was in danger because of Nia. Everything was falling apart because of Nia. >> I will go with you. Just let everyone else go. This is between you and me, Marco. No one else needs to die. >> Nia, no. I will not let you sacrifice yourself. I will not lose you.

>> You do not have a choice. >> Kill them all. Dne shifted into his wolf form in an explosion of power and muscle. His wolf was massive and black as midnight with crimson eyes that blazed like hellfire. He tore through the enemy warriors like they were made of paper. Blood sprayed across the walls and screams filled the air. But there were too many of them.

For every warrior Dne killed, two more took their place. They were being overwhelmed. Marco used the distraction to lunge at Nia with his silver knife. She dodged, but not fast enough. The blade sliced across her arm, and pain exploded through her body. Silver. It was poisoned with silver. She could feel it burning through her veins.

But something else was happening, too. Something unexpected. The silver was reacting with the bonds on her wolf. The magic that had kept her abilities locked away for 5 years was unraveling. She could feel her wolf surging forward, breaking through barriers that had held it prisoner for so long.

Pain and power collided inside her, and Nia screamed. Light exploded from her body, blinding everyone in the room. When it faded, she was no longer human. She was a wolf, a beautiful silver wolf with eyes that shone like starlight. Her fur gleamed and rippled, and she was bigger than any female wolf should be. She was magnificent.

She was powerful. She was free. Marco stumbled backward, his face white with terror. >> No, that is impossible. Your wolf was bound. It was supposed to be bound forever. Nothing is forever and neither are you, brother. >> She lunged at Marco and her jaws closed around his throat. He did not even have time to scream.

She tore out his windpipe and watched as the light faded from his eyes. The brother who had tortured her for 5 years. The monster who had killed their parents and blamed her for his crimes. The villain who had stolen everything from her. He was dead. Justice was finally served. The enemy warriors froze when they saw their alpha fall.

Dne’s wolves used the distraction to cut them down one by one. Within minutes, the battle was over. The blood moon pack had won. Dne shifted back to human form and ran to Nia, who was also shifting back. He caught her in his arms as she collapsed from exhaustion. Her arm was still bleeding from the silver wound, but she was smiling. >> We did it. It is over.

>> It is over. You are free, Nia. Truly free. Your wolf is unbound. Your brother is dead. No one will ever hurt you again. >> Nia looked up at his face and saw tears streaming down his cheeks. The most powerful alpha in all the territories was crying for her because of her. >> I love you, Dne. she said.

The words came out easily, naturally, like they had been waiting to be spoken all along. >> I love you, Dne. I think I have loved you from the moment I saw you. >> Dne kissed her. Then, a deep, passionate kiss that sealed the mate bond between them permanently. She felt the golden thread connecting them burst into brilliant light.

She felt his love and devotion and fierce protectiveness flood through the bond and fill her heart. She felt whole for the first time in her life. >> “I love you, too,” >> he said against her lips. >> “My mate, my Luna, my everything.” >> The pack gathered around them, cheering and howling in celebration.

Luna Helina appeared safe and sound, having been rescued by the warriors. Rosie was crying happy tears and hugging everyone in sight. Even the moon seemed to shine brighter, as if the moon goddess herself was blessing their union. One year later, Nia stood on the balcony of the alpha suite, looking out at her pack. Her pack. She was Luna now.

She had a mate who adored her and a family who loved her and a purpose that filled her with joy. She placed her hand on her swollen belly and felt the baby kick. Twins, the healer had said. A boy and a girl, the future alpha and his sister. Dne came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her.

His hands covered hers on her belly and she leaned back into his warmth. >> What are you thinking about? >> Everything. How much has changed? How happy I am. How grateful I am that you found me. >> I did not find you. I was led to you by fate, by the moon goddess, by the bond that has always connected us. I was always meant to save you, Nia.

And you were always meant to save me. Nia turned in his arms and looked up at his handsome face. His crimson eyes were soft with love. She reached up and traced the sharp line of his jaw. >> You saved me first. You gave me hope when I had none. You gave me a home when I had nothing. You gave me love when I thought I was unlovable.

I will spend the rest of my life trying to deserve you. >> You already do. You always have. >> He kissed her softly, tenderly, reverently. And Nia knew with absolute certainty that this was her happily ever after. She had survived the darkness. She had endured the pain. She had fought through the suffering.

And now she was standing in the light with the love of her life by her side and their children growing in her belly. The broken slave had become a powerful Luna. The accused murderer had been proven innocent. The girl who had lost everything had gained more than she ever dreamed possible. And they lived happily ever after.

Not because life was perfect or because nothing bad ever happened again, but because they faced every challenge together. Because they loved each other through every storm. Because they never forgot how precious their bond was and never took a single day for granted. Nia had learned that happiness was not the absence of pain.

It was finding someone who made the pain bearable. Someone who held your hand through the darkness and celebrated with you in the light. Someone who saw all your broken pieces and loved you anyway. She had found that someone in Dane and he had found it in her. Two broken souls made whole by love.

Two wounded hearts healed by devotion. Two wolves bound together by fate and choice and the blessing of the moon goddess herself. Their story had begun with a contract, a simple agreement between packs that was supposed to mean nothing. But it had led to everything, to love, to family, to happiness, to home. The alpha’s contract had given Nia her freedom.

But it was love that had given her a reason to live. The end. Thank you for watching Mr. Hope’s story. Stay tuned for more interesting stories.
