🏈 Jets Owner Woody Johnson Blames 0–7 Start on QB Play, Defends Head Coach Aaron Glenn

NEW YORK — New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is standing by head coach Aaron Glenn despite the team’s disastrous 0–7 start, pointing the finger instead at poor quarterback performance as the root cause of the franchise’s early-season collapse.

Speaking to reporters outside the team’s training facility on Friday, Johnson said he still has “complete confidence” in Glenn’s leadership and long-term vision for the team — but admitted the offense has failed to execute where it matters most.

“This isn’t about coaching,” Johnson said. “Aaron has these guys playing hard every week. The problem is execution, especially at quarterback. We’re not finishing drives, we’re not protecting the football, and that’s costing us games.”

The Jets have cycled through multiple quarterbacks this season following an injury to their starter in Week 2, with inconsistent play and turnovers plaguing the offense. The defense — Glenn’s specialty from his years as a coordinator — has kept games close, but the offense ranks near the bottom of the league in points and passing efficiency.

Johnson’s public defense of Glenn comes amid growing pressure from fans and media calling for a shake-up. But the owner insists firing the coach would only make things worse.

“Aaron’s building something here,” Johnson added. “We’re not going to hit the panic button. Everyone wants instant success, but football doesn’t work that way. We’re going to fix the quarterback situation and get this team back on track.”

Glenn, who took over as head coach last season, thanked Johnson for his support and said the team remains focused on “controlling what we can control.”

The Jets are set to face the Buffalo Bills next week, hoping to avoid the franchise’s first 0–8 start since 1996.
